[OPEN] Ain't got a care in world, but got plenty of beer
Who: Mettaton, a closed starter and YOU!
Where: Almost everywhere in the Citadel
When: Throughout the event (4/1- 4/4)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Mettaton throws caution to the wind and embraces this great Space Vacation
The Story:
The Markets
It didn’t take Mettaton long to adjust to this new event. In fact, the moment he realized that this was essentially a giant city floating in space, he embraced its entire atmosphere and dove straight in. With money in tow and a mind for future fashion, this robot is going to buy anything and everything he wants and enjoy it while it lasts. You can find him standing in front of the stores and haggling over prices, eyeing some shiny trinket, or being stopped by security.
Wait, what? Oh right, things are still a little tense over that whole “synthetic” thing huh… if you find him like this, perhaps you should consider helping a bot out! Or you could just laugh at him as he tries to wheedle his way out of trouble. That works too!
The Casino
Mettaton has been rolling the dice and throwing his chips down and luck has CERTAINLY been a lady tonight! He’s dressed to the nines in a trim future space suit, he’s got quite a “pile” of credits to his name now and the bouncers might be eyeing him a bit too closely. If you want to try your luck along with him or just spend the night with a handsome robot on your arm, Mettaton will happily oblige.
The Arcade
Here is where things get tricky. He knows that he more than likely won’t be able to keep anything he gets during this event, but he just saw the perfect little toy for his precious robot child and he absolutely needs to have it. Too bad it’s in one of those godforsaken claw machines that are notoriously hard to win. After struggling with this for awhile, success or no and with someone or no, Mettaton will move on to play other games throughout the arcade and he certainly won’t say no to company!
The Bars
The low lights, pounding music and attractive club goers makes the bars a red-letter place for Mettaton to be. He’s hopping from bar to bar and anyone is welcome to join him in his bar crawl. You can also find him dancing the night away on any of their dance floors, ordering some wild cocktails and giving them a spin, or you could stumble upon him in some dark corner where he’s wrapped himself up with a number of people, aliens and humans alike, whispering low in their ears and looking positively seductive. Perhaps this isn’t the best time to disturb him…
Wildcard
Got an idea to do something with Mettaton that isn’t covered by these prompts? Slap it on down and let’s have at it!

BAR HOPPING!
Laugh all you want at his idea of what space clothes look like, he's here for the party. He glances through the drink menu, and orders something exotic before turning to his equally hedonistic robot friend.
"Well, this has been a wonderful event so far!"
YEAH YEAH YEAH
"Oh yes. I think this has been one of Wonderland's best events yet! Fun and parties with no bloodshed! At least, none that I have seen."
no subject
"Well, unless someone decides to use the flying cars to run over people we shouldn't have a problem."
He chuckles while he waits for the barkeep to get him his drink. "And to think, I thought we were going to be having trouble with time travel for a moment. Thank goodness I was wrong!"
no subject
"Did you really now? Was it because of that announcement from The Duchess?"
Mettaton still has the coupon she gave him. He knows that it may come in handy one day.
no subject
"Yes. Isn't it a bit odd that someone would introduce a lighthearted event with such an ominous warning?"
Dorian kind of ignores how the Dormouse hinted at the Hogwarts event when he first got here.
no subject
"She's just dramatic like that. She once built a pillow fort and cried in it for hours because she couldn't find the Queen of Heart's room. It doesn't help that no one else who announces events is even remotely sensible."
Mettaton looks to the bar, musing over what he may get.
"How long have you been here, Dorian? It's been awhile now, I think."
no subject
"Oh, yes. And the last event she introduced before this. While I admit, she looked beautiful in that dress, it was a bit difficult to make out what she was meaning. Those Tweedles, though... They were no help at all."
How long had Dorian been here? He hadn't kept track- The days became weeks and months, and may very well slide into years... It hadn't been a year already, had it?
"I'm actually not sure myself. My best guess is only over half a year."
no subject
"Oh yes. It's a shame that she's so out of it. She's quite beautiful. Even with the whole... headless thing. Oh, did you talk to the Tweedles? What were they like?"
Mettaton looks away for a moment. Wow. He's known Dorian for half a year now.
"...I think my one year will be within a month or two."
An entire year. He thought he'd be long gone by now.
no subject
Dorian glances up at his companion. "A few months, now?"
He pauses, unsure of what to say to that at first.
"... You could celebrate it, if it feels alright to you. Think of your experience so far as a chance to meet people and experience things you otherwise would never have!"
"Take this, for example," he subtly gestures at the space bar. "Where else would you be drinking in a futuristic pub with a man from the 1800's?"
no subject
The Tweedles seem fun, if unknowable in how they speak. Dorian is much braver than he, speaking to these permanent residents of Wonderland as much as he does.
Mettaton's smile gains a few beams at Dorian's words.
"That is true. There's nothing like this out there in the world." He looks at Dorian, more happy than before. "There's nothing quite like you out there!"
He turns then to look at the bar.
"If there is one thing Wonderland is good for, it's things like this."
no subject
Dorian smiles back at the robot, partly glad to see him made happier by his words, partly content with the direction the conversation is going.
"Likewise, if it wasn't for Wonderland I would have never known a being like yourself ever existed!"
He grins at the bartender as he finally gets his drink: an exotic cocktail from beyond the stars. Tasting it, he finds it similar to a sort of sweet fruit from the orient.
"Ah... I tell you, Mettaton, it's moments like these we ought to live for. If we're going to be stuck in a nonsensical world where nothing is particularly constant, we ought to make the most of it."
no subject
"In her case, probably. Especially since her head is separate from her body so it's very easy to imagine her accidentally getting washed away because she misplaced her head somewhere."
This is a sort of morbid conversation but Mettaton doesn't care all that much.
"Now see, THAT would have been a tragedy. Not knowing about me is a crime!"
Mettaton oohs a little as he sees the drink Dorian recieves. It looks extravagent and he's half tempted to order it himself.
"Oh I agree. Even if this is a cage, at least it is dressed pleasantly enough to grant us wonderful moments like this."
no subject
"Her head was separated from her body? How did she manage to live with that?"
He chuckled again at Mettaton's little quip, enjoying the sheer absurdity of it with his intergalactic cocktail.
"Indeed, it is. At least we don't have to suffer all the time as we wait."
no subject
Mettaton gives a quick wave to the bartender, deciding yes, he wants what Dorian is having. The bartender nods a bit, even if they look a bit surly at having to serve a synthetic, but dutifully walk off to make it.
"I wish more events like these were common. So many people here have such horrid pasts that it makes it easy for Wonderland to torture us."
no subject
"So do I... I wonder if Wonderland has a sadistic streak in it?"
no subject
"There is a lot of evidence to it, I'd say. Though it implies that Wonderland itself is alive and it's not the Queen of Hearts or someone we don't know pulling the strings."
Mettaton looks after the bartender idly, watching him mix the drink.
"I think Wonderland is very much its own entity however. How much influence it has over us versus how much it delineates to its permanent residents is the kicker."
no subject
"Is that your theory? It seems rather unbelievable due to how much like a place it is."
no subject
"It is. I know it sounds outlandish but Wonderland feels more alive than just a regular mansion."
no subject
"Having visited and lived in such mansions, I'm starting to agree with you. And not just the mansion, but the entirety of Wonderland itself."
no subject
The robot nods, thinking. After a moment he looks at his friend curiously.
"You know, it occurs to me that I don't know much about you. At least, not much about your life back home. What were things like there? What did you do? Did you have any family?"
It is a lot of questions to suddenly bombard someone with but Mettaton is very curious. He's known the man for months and yet he only has a passing knowledge of who he is.
no subject
But the subject of family... It's a horrid subject, but it works as a diversion.
"I suppose you could read about my surroundings in a human history book. Late Victorian era, I think they call it. As a member of the upper class, I tended to indulge in the finer aspects of life..." And some things not as fine. "I don't think it's that different from what I do now."
"As for my family..." He pauses, lightly frowning, "It's a rather sore subject for me."
no subject
Indulge in the finer aspects of life? What an interesting way to frame it.
"And what would you indulge in, other than drink?"
Ah. Family is always a sore subject for people trapped here, isn't it? Mettaton is one of them. He gives his friend an apologetic look.
"I didn't mean to bring up anything unsavory. I merely wanted to know more about you. You don't have to speak about it if you don't wish to."
no subject
"Thank you kindly. Now, as for the indulgences, it varies quite a lot. Art, music... Maybe taking in a show. Beautiful things, that's what I like."
no subject
But... this is for the best, isn't it? People like them are not supposed to get close to others beyond casual friendships after all. Perhaps Dorian is better at this than he is.
"Well, that explains why you speak to me then! Beauty attracts beauty, as they say, and we are the most beautiful of all."
no subject
He'll just smile, happy to receive yet another familiar compliment.
"Of course! Thank you for noticing. We do seem to compliment each other very much."
Take that as you will.
