[OPEN] Lost in the Cold

Who: Leonard and YOU
Where: Neverland
When: Course of the event
Rating: Probably nothing bad, will change if need be.
Summary: Leonard's among the older lost ones, he often takes on a big brother role. He doesn't like or trust adults. He also has very good aim, which some adults might find out about.

A - beach

With the threat of adults everywhere, it's more important than ever to guard their borders. Leonard is thinking of all the lost ones that have every right to be scared and wary of adults and he also knows that this is their home. Peter has given it to them and no adult is welcome here.

There's a reason he carries a slingshot, which many might laugh at, but it only took a well-aimed stone to take a giant down if you hit him just right and Leonard had a lot of practise. He patrols up and down the beach, only stopping occasionally to fix up the threatening symbols him and others had left on the sand.

B - forest

To any outsider, Len would be invisible here, the moment he enters the forest. He takes to the trees and his clothes are dark, the thick leaves here don't allow much sunlight to filter through. It's here that he can be found sitting on a tree, carving a piece of wood with his knife. What he carves has the form of a little girl and depending on how far into him you catch him, you'll be able to make out her shape and, eventually, the accusing look on her face.

However, should any intruder try to sneak up on him, the knife could surely be used in more violent ways if need be.

C - anywhere

It's subtle, the change barely noticeable, because Leonard's ghosts never truly leave him alone. Still, actually seeing his father has him stand still, his face so carefully guarded to not betray an emotion, his body tense and his arms folded, wrapped around himself. He knows it's not real or so he tells himself. It doesn't keep him from flinching and finally lowering his head.

Perhaps a subdued reaction, but the pain is raw and at this moment, he doesn't pay attention to anyone or anything else.

D - lost one encampment

During the day, he can be found here either fixing up something or carving symbols into bark, as a journal of sorts and to record things as well as make plans for the future. Peter has gone and they don't know when he'll be back. As cynical as he is, he wonders if he will ever be back. But he can't tell that to the others, so he simply thinks about preparing for the eventuality. When he sits down, it's on the ground or on a branch, leaning back and relaxing in positions that couldn't possibly be comfortable.

It's not actually that much different during the night. Leonard doesn't sleep much. But he keeps his ears and eyes open, especially with so many adults and strangers roaming about. It's necessary to guard. He listens for sounds from outside, but he'll also hear any of the sounds from among them. A lot of them have nightmares and he knows that that's like.

[There's a bundle of energy that slides down beside Len as he's gotten into prime tree-carving position. Her hand slides up his spine and comes to rest at his shoulder.]

Okay, so I need you not to be mad.
finewithhalf: (yeah but you might be wrong)

[ she'll let him push her away, but transitions into snuggling up against his arm instead. There, the hand's off. ]

So the outsiders brought kids with them and I stole one.

[ If she says it fast enough, he won't have time to be angry about it right? ]

Left her in a net under the treehouse. [As if there's just one.

Also, if he's going to let this cuddle happen, she's definitely going to roll with it. He smells nice~]

[Nageki's easy to spot because of the lantern he carries with him. He can't see in the dark as easily as a human can and he needs the light to avoid bumping into the trees and bushes as he wanders through the forest. Though after five years, he knows the island well enough to manage without it.]

[Today he's searching the beach any stones that may have ended up here during practice or a fight. He hesitates when he spots Leonard, but decides to approach when he realizes that Leonard is another Lost One. Maybe not one he's gotten to know well over the last five years, but still a Lost One.]

Have you found anything?

[Nageki is quite a bit larger than a normal bird, though he would deny if asked. In his own time, birds like him are the normal ones.]

Stones. They end up here sometimes. [It gives him a task to keep his mind off things.]

He's easy to spot, even though she's made no attempt to lurk.

At sixteen years old, Katherine's had too much experience running. She knows the forest as well as the back of her own hand, if not a little more so. It's less open than the beach, more alluring than the water near Skull Rock. She lingers in the forest for its dark shadows and tall, climbable trees.

And for the company it brings her.

She doesn't approach him from behind, noticing the knife in his hand. As a Lost One herself, she can recognise the need to keep one's hands busy, if only to not let the paranoia of the adults lurking around settle in.

Once she's closer, she tilts her head and asks curiously, "Who's that?"

Katherine's never liked being easy to read. But with their island changing to accommodate to adults, she supposes it's only inevitable the stress begins to show on her often carefully crafted expressions.

She could lie, but there'd be no benefit to it. She's been lying to herself for a long while — though she can't quite grasp what those lies are.

"Fortunately for them, no," she says with a manner of confidence in her posture. She doesn't know what to exactly expect from wandering into the wilderness and arms of an adult, but she doubts it'll be good for anyone involved. "Have you?"

Streaking across the sand, of course the Flash ruins those symbols the kids had drawn. He doesn't mean it, but with how he skids along it and comes to a stop in his Flash suit, it's a casualty in his breaking.

Barry's trying to locate the mansion so he can change his clothes, but it's nowhere to be found in any corner of the map. There's trees and rocks and water, and Barry's not too sure if he wants to run along the surface to reach the island in the far distance as of yet.

"Hey!" He calls out to the kid. "Seen a mansion around here?"

Barry shakes his head. He doesn't need a minute to know what he's about to do is something dangerous.

"No."

He should leave — the kids of this island are dangerous. Unpredictable, angry, lost. But Barry can't simply leave without helping guide them. That desire to always assist has been in him since eleven, and he finds it rises even now.

This kid looks familiar in the blue of his eyes and the way his voice leaves his lips, but he can't quite pinpoint it just yet.

With his hands raised to show no harm, he remains as he is, Flash suit and identity obscured. It makes Barry feel a little safer, even if it makes him more of a target simply for how strange he appears. "I don't want to hurt you."

Dustin admires Leonard--it's not quite hero worship, because that's a silly thing to do, especially here, if it's not Pan. But he likes Leonard and he trusts Leonard, because as long as Dustin can remember, he's been there for him. Dustin isn't new, not anymore, but he's not been here as long as some people have. He feels like a middle child, drifting here and there, but ultimately, he's happy. He has family. he has the rest of the Lost Ones.

He can take anything else. The adults landing on the beach--that's a bit scary, he can't lie to himself--has made Dustin acutely aware of how much he needs the Lost Ones. So he closes his ranks, he keeps the others closer than usual, and makes sure not to be alone.

There's an exception, though--as he makes his way across a path, heading towards a dreamshade bush to recoat his weapons, he looks over and spots it. Leonard, too-tense, too rigid. He's normally a little rigid but not to this degree, and Dustin has always been far more observant than he lets on.

The dreamshade forgotten, he carefully clears his throat behind the other. He's not stupid enough to touch him and startle him--Dustin doesn't feel like dying today.

"You hear something, don't you?"

"Still sucks." There's that acute level of bluntness that comes with Dustin, right out the gate this time. He lifts his brows up as his lips pull into a smile, because even if Len is grouchy a smile can go a long way.

Besides, anyone who's that nice to new Lost Ones isn't really a grouch.

"What was it? Is it 'cause of the adults on the island, do you think?"

Encampment

[personal profile] thisismadfreaky 2016-10-31 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Cisco has been in Neverland for...awhile. He stopped bothering to count the time after awhile because it didn't really matter anyway. Leonard wasn't the one that found him when he arrived, but he was definitely the one that Cisco attached himself to, almost instantly. He was everything a big brother was supposed to be. He cared, in his own rough and tumble kind of way, and he was protective and despite the number of kids amassed in his group, he never made Cisco feel ignored. That was kind of the top number one best thing to him.

The sudden influx of adults has everyone on edge and Cisco can't sleep. So, naturally, he wanders the encampent to find Len because history says he's probably not sleeping anyway and at least if he has to be awake, if Cisco's with him, he knows beyond any doubt he'll be safe. No matter what. He finds the older boy leaned up against a tree and flops down next him. "Do you think they're here to make us all go back?" Because he definitely does not want that. At all. He doesn't remember a lot about home, but he knows he didn't like it. Everything's better here with his found family.
thisismadfreaky: ({Ickle} Wtf)

[personal profile] thisismadfreaky 2016-11-20 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"We need to find a way to send 'em back." Wherever they came from, whatever means it took. They didn't belong here and they needed to go back where they did. If he sounds bitter about it, maybe he is, Cisco's not a huge fan of change. He likes that Len is honest with him and the others, not tiptoeing around things just because some of them are a lot younger than him. He treats them all the same, and it's a big part of Cisco's own gravitation toward the older boy.

He smirks a little at that and nods, "Yeah, I will. And probably I'll stick to traveling with someone, going alone seems like a bad idea right now."
