Yes, a friend gave it to me, he weaved protections spells into it and taught me how. He...well, most people would recognize his name if they know Norse Mythology. His name was Loki.

Oh it was, and he definitely would have preferred if I stayed away, but I'm stubborn. Plus we lived through at least two or three events where our memories were taken and replaced with ones where we were friends. It's hard to shake.
