Georgia is lucky for a human. She and her brother were adopted by two high profile mutant media personalities when they were young. A publicity stunt, of course, Stacy and Michael Mason making a show of how they can live in peace as a family, mutant and human alike, making Shaun and Georgia something between pampered pets and the kids the Masons parade out for ratings and to show off how generous and caring they are.

She and Shaun get to escape a lot of the prejudices and shit other humans have to deal with, and they get top notch education. All it costs is being raised by two people who will never and can never love you, no matter what you do.

Georgia doesn't let it bother her. At least with her parents' connections, she's managed to start a fairly popular blog that has taken off despite its' pro-human leanings. Shaun's blogging too, his schtick being crazy stunts done entirely without the aid of superhuman powers. Together, they aren't making quite enough to move out yet. But she has hope.

She knows who Tim is. In fact, she's been searching for him. She's been chasing down the facts from an old case, one the police never really followed up on because it involved an out of control young mutant and a human who got hurt. Not unusual, which is the entire fucking tragedy. It was an accident, but rather than try and take care of the nurse who'd been hurt or at least settle things with her family, they covered it up for the comfort of the mutant.

Not that Georgia has ever been one to keep things covered up for people's comfort. She hurries to catch up to him, her mind focused sharply on the questions she was getting ready to ask. She knows his powers. She should be afraid. And she is, it's just that it's not enough to stop her.

"Mr. Wright? Do you have time for a few questions?"

That definitely isn't a no, which is just as well. No was never an option. She tugs a photo out of her pocket of the nurse and holds it up for him to see. "Do you recognize this woman?"
choosetruth: (once and for all there'll be blood)

[personal profile] choosetruth 2017-09-24 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
That might help if she herself wasn't wired up enough that she can record every whisper. She's not leaving here without evidence, and he's giving her plenty of it.

"Call me a friend of the family's." She wasn't then. She sure is now. Amazing how giving them their first real ally in years made them want to be friends. "Have you seen her or had any word of her since the incident?"

She's pretty sure she knows the answer to that one too.

"Alive, technically speaking. About as much going on mentally as your average carrot, of course, but she's got a pulse." She snatches the photo away, scribbling down notes. "How hard did you try and find out, Mr. Wright?"

Georgia is just minding her own business, taking a break from writing up all her notes from this event to go get a Coke when she suddenly finds herself opening her eyes and wearing soft white pajamas. She looks around. White, white walls. Doctors. One way mirrors.

It's not the CDC, but it's close enough to her nightmares, the ones where she wakes up and she's never actually left, that she starts screaming before she can process anything, backing up against one of the walls as her head whips back and forth. She has to get out she has to get out she can't do this again she can't she can't she was out.

The doctors say Wonderland wasn't real. The worst part is how fast they might be able to convince her. It always did seem too good to be true.
choosetruth: (and joe we is too)

[personal profile] choosetruth 2017-09-23 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Her screaming might not raise suspicion exactly, but it certainly does catch attention. Doctors flock to her, trying to restrain her which makes her struggle more, trying to give her pills, and worst of all, talking down to her like she's crazy and can't understand unless they speak very slowly and gently. It takes them a while to calm her down. Catching sight of Tim helps, if for no other reason than that it's so surprising that it causes her to stop screaming. That allows the doctors to try and force her to take the pills, which she pretends to swallow, then spits out once they've finally left her alone.

When Tim meets her eyes again, she goes to him.

"Tim, what the fuck?" she asks, keeping her voice down. She's only making the barest attempts to not act suspicious, but she is trying a little. She doesn't want them to try and restrain her again. She does want to know what's going on.
choosetruth: (and a prayer becomes a vow)

[personal profile] choosetruth 2017-09-24 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
She remembers. And it's a relief to hear him mention it. It helps her beat back a bit of the panic she's still fighting. Facts have always been her solid ground. And this fits. Wonderland. The rifts. An event.

"Fuck me." She huffs out a breath, tangling her fingers in her hair and taking a step back. "I do not have time for this. I have... I have an article to write. We need to get the fuck out of here."
choosetruth: (now is the time to seize the day)

[personal profile] choosetruth 2017-09-25 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure we will. That's the one good thing about events. They end." Her voice is rising up a little. She takes a shaky breath, forcing her voice down. "And if this is a rift, it'll end even sooner."

This is really bad. She knows it's not the CDC. She knows they're in Wonderland and none of this is real. But it's all real enough that she can feel the panic trying to claw its way up her throat.

"How about careful but fast."

[personal profile] burntvideocassette 2017-09-25 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
He'd been looking for a snack and maybe some coffee, feeling half-dead after the trip Mirrorside. He was heading for the kitchen; that's what he remembers.

He doesn't remember this room. And he doesn't remember changing his clothes, or taking off his shoes, or who the hell the people in the white coats are supposed to--Oh.

No.

This is absolutely not happening. He's going to wake up any second now, and he's going to be fine. This is a dream, because there's nothing else it could reasonably be. Except an event. Okay, two things it could reasonably be, none of which are "Hey, Jay, guess what? You've been crazy all along. Nice twist, right?"

He's just going to...sit down and wait for this to all blow over. And hope the doctor who started looking at him oddly decides to cut it out.
burntvideocassette: (a bit sad and a bit scared)

seconding that. because jay is a disaster.

[personal profile] burntvideocassette 2017-09-25 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
One of the patients starts moving toward him, and Jay recoils for a second until he gets a better look. It's fine. It's just Tim.

(Not exactly a surprise, in a place like this.)

He's certainly taking his time getting over here. Jay guesses it's to avoid attention. Maybe you can't move too fast, or else the doctors'll get upset. For now, though, it looks like he's running the world's sorriest stealth mission.

Finally, he gets close enough to say Jay's name.

"Yeah," he mutters back, following Tim's lead. "This is an event, right?"

Right?
burntvideocassette: (suspicious)

[personal profile] burntvideocassette 2017-09-25 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
'They'll think you've lost it.'

Jay shoots Tim a brief, withering look. Like somebody else I can name.

He shifts his focus, trying to look at something that isn't Tim. Doesn't want to make it too obvious they're talking. Eventually, he settles on a painting hung on the far wall. Some pastoral scene, probably hung in there because they think it'll calm the patients down.

"What do they want us to say?"
