Summary: The Red Queen has thrown a carnival for everyone!
The Story:


From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.


Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

And there's another donation box. [Georgia's frown deepens.] The Red Queen is the host this time. But it has a lot in common with last winter's party, and she claims she didn't host that.

[George believes her. It's not something she'd have reason to lie about. But still, this is... odd.]

Ah yes, I have had a look at it. [And touched it, of course. ] That's interesting. She could be lying, of course, or we could have a copycat, too.

It seems a lot of work to try and get us happy? And allowing the Mirrors over too, they they allowed to do this very often, I was under the impression they were more...trapped back there.

[There's no judgement in his tone, just genuine concern for their wellbeing. ]

They're not exactly trapped, but crossing without permission from the Queen of Hearts can get them punished. Even unmade.

[It's good motivation not to cross at will. Even Georgia would behave under that sort of circumstance.]

But yes, it does seem like a lot of work. I'm not sure what her motivations are, but I suspect they go past "making us happy." No one is that selfless.

So essentially it's still a prison. The Queen of Hearts doesn't come across as someone who's particularly content to let her subjects move around anywhere if it doesn't benefit her.

[He's not a fan.]

You clearly haven't met Pinkie Pie. Buuut my world is very, very different from most, as we've already established.

Yes, and I imagine "Pinkie Pie" isn't a ruler. That kind of generosity doesn't lend itself well to politics.

Oh, no, she's a baker, and party planner. Though she is one of the defenders of the realm- and the official ambassador of our country to Yakyakistan. So...there is that, at least, she's managed to hold off their tendency towards war.

[Georgia stares for a moment, then shakes her head.]

Your world is weird. Let me guess: Yakyakistan is full of yaks?

[She gets a wry smile at that. ]

I could say the same about any world that isn't mine. And yes. They're our closest neighbours, very reclusive. Honestly, there was a moment where they were on the cusp of going to war with us, but Pinkie managed to fix it.

How did she fix it?

[It seems utterly ridiculous, but well. What's new there?]

By showing the Yaks our culture, instead of poorly trying to imitate their own. Also by apologising for the aforementioned poor imitation. The simplest things work wonders sometimes, it turns out.

[EVERYTHING to do with Pinkie is utterly ridiculous. Everything. ]
