Summary: The Red Queen has thrown a carnival for everyone!
The Story:


From Friday, March 9, through Friday, March 16, the gardens and grounds of the Mansion will be a sprawling a carnival. The masked, unspeaking vendors will be selling trinkets and running free game booths. Carnival rides, exhibits, and foods represent all of the various cultures of those currently residing in the Mansion.


Of particular note, and perhaps incongruously, everything is decorated with red hearts.

[He does notice the playful tone at least as he glances up towards her from his cereal with a smile.]

The sugar is where is belongs. I have to be careful not to let myself go too wild at this event!

[Yes, it actually is cereal. How did he even find some here?! We just don't know.]

[Wait. Wait. Max's gaze shifts down to his hands where he's cradling an actual bowl of cereal. Her expression shifts into stark disbelief.

Cereal. At a carnival. Truly Wonderland shifts reality to its whims. This goes against everything Max has ever known.]

B- I...

[This is life's punishment for all her 'are you serious' puns.]

Where did you even get-

[She bursts out in laughter before the question is fully out of her mouth.]

[Oh, now she's laughing! He knows she was using a joking tone, but is it normal for her to laugh this much as well? Ishimaru meekly chuckles while he watches her.]

Ah... I see that joke must have been quite amusing! I am glad that you are in good spirits...

[She settles down after a moment, laugh fading into a grin.] I guess I am... [And again, as usual, there's a little pang of guilt at that. But she trusts that it will go away- or that it can be ignored.] Are you enjoying the carnival?

[He nods along, in between scoops of his cereal.]

Yes, it has been a pleasant experience so far. I do not attend carnivals very often, so much of this is unfamiliar with me. But I am doing my best to have a laidback and enjoyable experience! [Even if he still seems intense as he says that!]

[Generally, doing your absolute best to have a laidback experience seems rather oxymoronic. But she's not going to point that out. Though she's curious what he considers the most enjoyable carnival experience- maybe so she can try it herself.]

So... what've you tried so far? Any of the rides?

[Thank you for sparing his... contradictory nature.]

As a matter of fact, I have. Some other showed me the roller coaster and the bumper cars. [He practically shudders as he mentions the roller coaster. It was quite the intense ride!] But there are still much more to try, are there not?

Bumper cars. [Her eyes light up. She hasn't seen that one yet.] Definitely adding that to my to-do list.

[It's a short list, but it never seems to get any shorter.]

You could try, uhh... Oh, I saw one of those mechanical bull rodeo things.

[She can take the bumper cars!! He had enough of that unusually violent ride. Now he looks confused as she raises her suggestion.]

Ah... a mechanical bull rodeo... 'thing'? I am afraid that I am completely unfamiliar with such a ride! Can you show me?

Sure I'll show you- doesn't mean I'll ride it, though.

[But if Ishimaru is looking for something extreme...

She takes some gummy worms as a treat before leading him to where she saw the mechanical bull. The thing itself is empty at a moment, though it bucks and twists violently, as though for show.]

That's the crazy bull rodeo thing.

[He's not so sure about something 'extreme'... but as she shows it to him, he beholds it with widened eyes.]

Ah! So that is it? It looks very dangerous!

[mypartnerintime]

Understatement. [Max grins as she says it, though, before ripping a poor gummy worm in half with her teeth.] That's probably why some people find it cool.

[moraloutrage]

Hmmm... I see! [He frowns and glances towards her, then back towards the machine while finishing his last bit of cereal.]

Fellow youths unfortunately have dangerous ideas of what it means to be cool! I... do not think that I am reckless enough to try something like that!

[Ah, he's reached the point where he's run out of cereal and has nothing left but a bowl of milk. Max peeks at it as he turns to look back at the bull.

...He's gonna drink it, she bets to herself as she devours what's left of the gummy worm. He seems like the milk drinking type.]

Me neither. I'm happy with all my limbs intact.

That is very wise of you, Max-kun! More young people could stand to learn from your example!

[Playing it safe is the way to go! ...As is drinking milk! He gently lifts the small boy to his mouth and sips away at the milk.]

[Bingo. Milk drinker! Max appreciates that- the sugar saturated milk left in a bowl of cereal is a great finisher for breakfast.]

That's me- a fountain of teenage wisdom. [It's not quite sarcastic but it's certainly not serious either.]

[Well, at least the milk itself has to count for something.]

Ahahaha! I would not argue with you having your own fair share of wisdom! I am glad to be able to count on you. [He pulls a handkerchief out to wipe some milk away from his chin and looks away from the mechanical bull.]

[She offers him a gummy worm.]

You've got your own brand of wisdom too. [The extremely enthusiastic kind, but it never seems to be too much.] Enjoy the carnival, okay?

[He glances at the gummy worm for a moment before he reaches out and accepts it.]
