+ Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright! | OPEN +

Who: EVERYONE (if they want to live)
Where: EVERYWHERE (inside the mansion, knocking on doors)
When: 6/24 - 6/27
Rating: PG-13?
Summary: The Summerween Trickster has made his decree - Trick or treat...or die! This is a mingle log for Trick-or-Treating!
The Story:

On the morning of the 24th, everyone will find that the mansion was inexplicably decorated for Halloween...sort of. The idea behind the decorations is mostly the same, except that every jack-o-lantern is made out of a watermelon instead of a pumpkin. No, this is SUMMERWEEN.

For the first day it will be harmless enough, just a change in décor and a little spooky summer fun. However, by the second day there will be sightings of the Summerween Trickster, a creepy fellow made entirely out of unpopular loser candy, and he is not happy. In the entrance hall, there will be a giant jack-o-melon container with a counter and a count-down clock ticking away to the end of the event.

Your job, Wonderland, is to trick-or-treat for your lives. You have until the end of the event to deliver one million pieces of candy to the jack-o-melon before the end of the event, to appease the Summerween Trickster.

What was that? You'll just sit this out and wait for the event to end? I wouldn't do that if I were you. You see, the Summerween Trickster could be lurking around any corner. If he catches someone not fully embracing the spirit of Summerween (refusing to trick or treat, not wearing a costume, etc), they will not survive the experience. The Trickster will kill them and swallow them whole, making them part of his horrible loser candy body.

More details about trick or treating can be found here. This is a mingle post for trick-or-treating, if you'd rather use this than make a post! [Brackets] or prose are both welcome.

Joe West would agree with you wholeheartedly, Michonne. There is no one like Eartha Kitt and there never will be. Then again, Joe West would likely have a thing or two to say about his daughter's costume, so it's for the best, really, that he isn't here to see it.

A small laugh is her answer. "The pickiest. Is it always like this, or is it only with events that it decides to be a troll?

"Only when it knows we really need it. Costumes are no big deal. It's when something happens and suddenly we can't get food, water, or weapons. That's a real good time."

Extending a hand in introduction, she decides partnering up really can't be a bad thing. "Michonne, by the way."

"Iris West."

Her handshake is firm and friendly. Iris manages to find the perfect balance between warmth and no nonsense. "I've only been here a couple of weeks, so I hope you don't mind showing me the ropes. I'm a quick learner."

"No, you ask all the question you want, Iris. Better to know then something goes sideways and you're the only one on the outside. I got here in the middle of one of these events. Over a year ago, now. Ask anything you want or need to."

Once her bag is completely empty, she waits on her new found companion to head back to the rooms.

She doesn't have to wait for long.

Iris moves swiftly, and once she dumps the candy into the respective container, she grabs her now empty treat bucket and falls into step beside Michonne, thankful for her candor and her willingness to assist. "I've heard things go sideways around here often, and events are usually a lot less harmless than this one. Is that true?"

There's just a little more sobering on her end at the question, and she glances over. "Yeah. Past couple have actually been pretty tame. Just makes me wonder what's next. This place seems to like to wind up for something truly shitty when trick-or-treat for your life is relatively tame."

"I'm still wondering what the point of it all is," Iris admits to her. If Wonderland truly does mean to steal their memories, why not just do so and be done with it? Why go through all this trouble, if not for entertainment or something more sinister?

"Pretty sure the queen's just bored. There's no reason to put us through this. Unless it's just a part of how the magic works? In order for this place to run, it needs memories, but maybe for it to 'count' we have to be put through our paces."

It's the only guess she has, and it probably doesn't really matter - it is what it is.

"About that ..."

Iris is a reporter. Not only is she adept at gathering evidence, she's been taught to be critical of it, to examine what they are told instead of accepting it as gospel. "How do you know a memory is gone if you don't remember having it in the first place?"

When did people start catching on it was memories that fueled Wonderland, and how?

"It's like this place erodes a little at a time. Words sometimes, a sentence maybe. You're telling the story and then suddenly can't remember the middle, but you know the end."

It's actually even less drastic than that, but she thinks it paints a bigger picture. "If you're here long enough, eventually you'll forget anything but this place."

This is very alarming, Michonne.

Iris appreciates frankness, all the same. She'd rather hear a brutal truth over a pretty lie. She's been lied enough.

"How long is long enough?" she asks quietly. People keep telling her there's no way to leave, and while she'd like to believe otherwise, if Barry and the team haven't found a way out yet ...

"Well. Boyfriend's been here five years and he still remembers home, there's just a few bits and pieces missing. So I don't think it goes all that fast. I'd be more concerned about what you have in your home world that you wouldn't want to inflict on everyone else here. Because that's exactly what it'll do."

Michonne doesn't know how to sugar coat shit. She can't stand people doing it to her, and she won't do it to others.
demonstrate: (regard.)

Iris grows quiet at the answer. There are so many metahumans in her world, some with powers that are truly dangerous. She thinks of Thawne, thinks of Zoom, and she knows that Michonne is right. This is what she should concern herself with.

Well, this and trick-or-treating, which Iris and Michonne end up doing together fabulously for the remainder of the evening.

Is it any surprise? They're Catwomen.
