Summary: A place to list your tears throughout the event, and describe the worlds that can be seen or accessed through them. Event Post.
The Story:

While invisible zombies ravage Wonderland, tears are popping up everywhere! Through them characters can see versions of themselves from alternate universes. Some of them show a different version of Wonderland, some a different version of their home. Some are as benign as a character drinking coffee instead of tea, others are as drastic as somebody's entire personality changed completely.

On day one tears are so small as to barely even be recognisable. Faint voices and melodies can be heard through the tiny cracks if you step really close, but these brief and indistinct glimpses are barely even worth describing.

On day two tears have opened up wide enough to recognise them for what they really are. Yesterday's melodies will sound clearer, and the voices will become decidedly familiar, belonging to people characters know, sounding perhaps even like the characters themselves. Look through the tears and they may catch sight of home, or something that merely looks like another part of Wonderland. The tears are yet narrow and instable though, and the field of vision is correspondingly poor.

On day three the tears have grown a great deal. The worlds beyond them can be seen and heard, though most cannot be interacted with at all. Only the biggest ones are already stable enough for characters to stick their hand inside, and pulls through any objects within reach.

On the fourth and last day some tears have finally become large and stable enough for characters to pass through whole. Not all tears will reach this stage, but those who have can be visited, and the world beyond them explored... at each character's own peril.

[It might... actually make her feel better to hear other world's working like hers do.]

[Someone will break the curse one day.]

Where do I even begin? [Hawke hums thoughtfully.] When I first arrived in Wonderland, I learned that the world I come from has... a lot of different 'versions.' From what I can tell, the difference usually lies in the identity of a key figure.

[He swallows.]

In my case, the difference is whether I'm a man or not. I'd heard about it, but one of these breaches was my first time seeing it.

[But not them and not now. She does quirk an eyebrow, though, because goodness, that's topical. She steps back a bit, gesturing to the tear.]

Well, then you're in similar company. Or I guess I am, because it took me twenty minutes to realize this dude they were calling 'Shepard' was the same person.

[All Hawke can do for a moment is stare, because what.]

...You're serious. [He laughs, but it's kind of... hollow. It's not exactly a situation he'd wish on anyone.] Welcome to the club. How's it feel?

Fuckin' weird.

[How else is it supposed to feel, really? It's... at least for her, a big tenant of her identity.]

Honestly, it's just... I guess it's more what it stands for, than what it is. That I... basically could've been anyone, you know?

Maybe. Maybe not.

[Hawke has had the advantage of having a year to mull this over. He can't say if their situations are exactly the same, but.]

Did you catch his name?

I'm military, so we usually just use last names and titles. So he's still Commander Shepard. Dunno about his first, though.

[Is it really important what it is anyway? If it's still, just... someone else, almost-but-not-quite in her skin?]

I didn't use mine around the ship almost at all. Seems doubtful I'd find out from this scene at least.

See, I have a first name too but not even my own family calls me by it. I'm just Hawke to everyone. And that's fine, but if it's the same for you -- besides being military, I mean. I have to wonder.

[They should really be getting drunk for this, but he's had a lot of time to think about this ever since he first arrived and met Inquisitor Trevelyan.]

Do the finer details really matter? Or does the universe just need a Commander Shepard and a Hawke, and who they are isn't important? [A beat.] Of course they matter to us, but there has to be a reason why these are the things that change. If you'd said his name was something completely different, well...

[He's saying everything she's been wondering since he showed up. Does it matter who she is, really? Did she just get unlucky enough to be placed as Shepard? She wants to say something, some good response, but she has none.

Another memory bubbles up, without thinking about it.]

I met another Shepard, back when all those new residents were here for a week last fall. We weren't even born on the same planet. But we still commanded the same ship, with the same allies.

[Everything feels like it's just slightly to the left, and she can't fix it. like she's not even herself at this point.]

You'd imagine if they needed us, it'd be us. But then what makes it... us, I guess. What's even the point?

[Hawke falls silent as Shepard begins to talk. His mind reels for a moment after her comment about not being born on the same planet, because he's experienced space in a way but that is still hard to swallow.]

I can't imagine what meeting another... you was like. [His lips quirk, eventually settling on a frown.] I've only heard stories. Seen the impressions they left on the people I care about.

[Finding out a Marian Hawke chose to use blood magic is something he'll never quite get over.]

If I knew, I'd feel better about it, I think. I know -- Knew, now, actually -- some of my own future before Wonderland sent me home to experience and I wonder. It seems like certain events are the important part, and how we get there is... less so.

It wasn't as bad as you'd think. We mostly got really hammered and swapped stories. Tried to figure out where the differences lie. I thought... I guess I thought it wasn't really real. Like something the Mansion made up.

[There's no real proof this isn't, either, but his situation is too eerily close to hers for her to ignore it. There's something here, shared in that uncertainty, and she doesn't like it.]

She was from a future past mine, too, but she wouldn't tell me anything about it. I dunno what she was trying to protect me from. Can't be any worse than... whatever this is.
