The Story:
The Clinic ☤
video;
Hello, Wonderland. I've attached a list of names to this message for people who have volunteered to be emergency contacts should the need for healing arise. However, I would like to see if anyone else would be interested, specifically non-magical healers. As we experienced with the last event, magic isn't always working or at full power, and the closets may not give us the medical supplies we need. If you're interested, please let me know either via return message or by coming to the clinic. I'll be here for a little while today.
Also, anyone interested in learning some home remedies or what to do if someone's injured or ill and there are no medical supplies or magic on hand is free to let me know. I know more than one person has expressed interest already, and honestly, in a place like this, you can never tell what knowledge might come in useful.

The Story:
The Clinic ☤
[ As far as Claire is aware based on previous conversations, there is only one person fully available at nearly any time in the clinic. It's not fair to the young woman to carry all of that burden, so as soon as Claire finds it, she begins taking stock of what's there. It's neatly organized at least and has everything she would expect plus more she'll have to become more familiar with. Still, she knows what she's working with now and she finds an empty space that could serve as an office (did it simply appear because it was needed? She can't imagine a clinic simply having an empty room that isn't at least storage) and manages a desk and chair, plus a pen. Then, she sets out to write a list of names, people who have agreed to be of assistance should something happen and they need someone in an emergency. Like 999 for situations when the closets won't readily give what's needed or immediate magical healing is required.
There will be, she assumes, instances when magic won't work altogether, and she hopes there's enough variation to cover all her bases. Still, she writes out:
Mikan
Anders
Regis
Souji
Minato
Josuke
Olivia Moore
All people - excluding herself - who rely on magic, save for Olivia, Mikan and Regis as far as she knows. So, with that, she sends a network message. ]

Greenhouse/Grounds/Garden ✿
[ She's on a mission now to find out what grows native to Wonderland, what's already growing in the greenhouse, and what she might simply have to ask the closets for. She'll likely start seedlings of things if it feels prudent, but she needs to start somewhere. The last time she'd started this expedition she'd been distracted by a new arrival and now she's back at it with a basket on her arm. In said basket she already has common yarrow, hollyhock, marigolds, and jasmine. Claire's also walking with a notepad and pencil, making notes of things she knows are common (garlic, aloe vera) that she doesn't see. She also has jars that, when she finds fresh spider webs, become the thread's new home. ]
Library ✍
[ Claire tells herself she isn't here to look up the Battle of Culloden. And she's successful for the most part. She's come for specific books, stacking them up on a table nearby once she finds the section she's looking for: anything and everything on continuing medical education, modern medicine, herbal medicine, and medical technology as it has evolved. She's going to learn, she's going to teach herself, and she's determined. She knows there are things she can't possibly perfect without the aid of medical school, but she can at least learn more. And who knows; perhaps a skilled doctor will arrive one day who can show her how to do such things.
She wasn't going to attempt to look up her husband, not with him in Wonderland now.
When she was done she should have left immediately, but instead, she's found herself standing in front of books that could tell her Jamie's exact fate if they're that accurate. He doesn't know, even asking him point blank, and perhaps only a fool would want to find out, but she knows she'd do it anyway, that'd she would try to know if she could. Reaching out, she touches a book titled Culloden, 1746: Battlefield Guide and closes her eyes. She shouldn't, she knows it, and so she stands there, torn, hand on the book, eyes closed and trying to will herself away. ]
Library!
Hello there, sweetheart. Are you all right?
[He's a curious robot, that's just how he is, but he's also mildly concerned.]
no subject
I don't know.
[ Only after that does she turn her head to look, and...well. This is her first experience with a robot, ever, and after closing her eyes again to remind herself that this is Wonderland after all, and things are very different from what she knows, opens them again. ]
I mean to say, I will be. I think.
[ Her hands drops from the book. Good, Mettaton, for distracting her. Now, maybe she can walk away from that shelf. ]
I apologize if I distressed you with my behavior.
no subject
No, it's quite all right. It just seemed a bit odd to see you so transfixed.
[He thinks of asking about the book, of trying to dig more into why it was so important but... she seems relieved to not be looking at it anymore and he decides that perhaps his ability of distraction as an entertainer could be put to good use here.]
You haven't been here long, I hope? Stuck in the library, I mean. Wonderland at large I can't speak for whether or not you've been here awhile.
no subject
[ She manages some kind of a smile and extends her hand because where are her manners?? Even while contemplating the existence of her husband. ]
I'm Claire Fraser.
no subject
[She doesn't... look like any human doctors he has ever seen before. Granted in Wonderland you can wear pretty much anything you want and it's not like that really indicates your job in life.]
It is good to meet you! I'm Mettaton, Monster celebrity of the Surface and Underground!
[Gotta lay out the whole title, of course.]
no subject
[ Nurse in one world, healer in an other.
When he introduces himself, Claire has to process every word carefully, and yet. ]
I'm sorry, I don't think I quite understand your full title. Mettaton, was it?
no subject
What's the difference between a nurse, a healer, and a doctor? Do they not all do the same thing?
[It's all healing magic in the end for him.]
Yes! Mettaton! That is my name! Where did I lose you? Was it the distinction between the Surface and Underground? That confuses a lot of humans.
no subject
[ But between a healer and the others, well...]
A healer is what I'm called in the eighteenth century. But by modern standards, I went to nursing school and completed all the requirements for my certification before the war.
[ Things Claire is still not used to doing: clarifying which war and recognizing not everyone is from Earth. She has a hard enough time as it is keeping her own timelines straight, but it's simply a matter of making room in her mind. ]
Well, I've certainly never heard of 'Surface' and 'Underground' so yes, I do believe that's it.
I am so sorry for that weird youtube link... Undertale is a fascinating game
[It sounds like someone went to cooleg and got their degree!]
The war? What war was that?
[There's something... funny about the way she clarifies the different set ups for medical care in different periods of time but Mettaton can't quite put a finger onto it in a way to successfully ask a question. Perhaps he should wait until he gets more information.]
Ah, well, where I come from, humans and monsters (that's me, a robotic monster) were separated for a long time. We got sealed away from seven human magicians underneath the earth and that's where we lived until we were released rather recently. Hence why I make the distinction.
oh my lmao idek what i just watched XD
[ This is before he goes on to explain. ]
It's become known now as a World War, the second one, in fact.
[Then he goes on, and she knows - they're not at all from the same reality which is still, no matter who she comes across, a fascinating concept for her. ]
'Monster' seems like a rather rude, blanket term. I've seen and met monsters, and you certainly aren't it.
Undertale is a wild ride
Yes, that's a pretty common thing around here. There are only two humans from my world in Wonderland currently and I don't know if we will ever get more.
[He wonders what it is about the people Wonderland has pulled from his world that made it want them. Now that he thinks about it, out of all the monsters and humans it could have grabbed, it seems almost odd that they're all (mostly) people he knows...]
So you're from World War 2. Huh. There's a few humans here who are from that time as well!
[He almost asks Claire if she knows anything about Hydra but decides to refrain for now.]
While you are very kind for saying that, that's the name we gave ourselves! It's the name of our species.
[Her statement reminds her of the first time he spoke to Bucky and he smiles fondly at the thought.]
no subject
Well, more or less. I'm technically from that time period.
[ She never knows how much to go on or not, so she keeps it practical. If he has questions, she's sure he'll ask. ]
Was it a reclamation of the name, or are you from a world where the term never meant anything different?
[ Here's hoping that question isn't offensive. ]
no subject
Technically? Is there a bump in the road for you, temporally speaking?
[Humans and time powers are not foreign to him, after all.]
The latter! The word has always referred to us though how humans have used it has changed over time the longer we were sealed away.
[The longer it was, the easier it was to pretend they were nothing more than the evil creatures that their fear said they were at the start of the war over a thousand years ago.]
no subject
[ She gestures to her clothes, a skirt, and corset, by way of example. ]
This feels more like home to me now than the 20th century. But that's interesting, about your people, about the things humans will do when they don't know the truth of things.
[ Of course, Claire is including herself in that. ]
no subject
That is quite a bump! What caused that?
[He observes her clothes curiously.]
I certainly couldn't have adjusted that well to such a jump. At least, not one that I was aware of.
[Clearly he's adjusted to time resetting in the past but ignorance is bliss, as they say.]
It seems to be a common theme from all the different humans I have spoken to. From my state of affairs at least humanity is much more welcoming than it used to be.
no subject
[ She shakes her head. ]
I'm sure they've given up by now. It's been too long to keep looking. Especially because I know they won't find any trace of me.
no subject
Gracious darling, that's a heavy burden to carry.
[He doesn't think he could begin to handle the pain and loneliness that must go into a situation like that.]
If it helps, while you're here, time is frozen back home, if you didn't already know. So I suppose both timelines of yours aren't advancing anymore.
no subject
[ It sounds a bit hollow to her own ears; she's glad to know time won't move for her back home. But Jamie's already moved on without her, past the witch trial. He's sending her home, hoping to but knowing he likely won't see her again. ]
Wonderland does have its small mercies for all of us, I suppose.
