somewhere in the black mountain hills of dakota
Who: Kevin Tran Liddell and YOU.
Where: Around the Mansion.
When: Throughout the event.
Rating: G? PG? Something like that.
Summary: Kevin likes to break into peoples' rooms! Why not brighten your day by coming home to find the representative of the Year of the Raccoon sitting in a pile of your stuff?
The Story:
Kevin's always been a little strange, but it hasn't particularly bothered him; it's not like he saw many people outside of his family, after all, and he got plenty of mental stimulation from his years being homeschooled by his mom.
And he found other forms of recreation that kept him busy and fulfilled, like breaking into peoples' rooms from time to time. Nothing like a little casual vandalism, right? At the most, he steals food and pokes around; he's not exactly a klepto, though sometimes he likes to take souvenirs. Never anything that valuable; he's not looking for money since it's not like he needs it. He'll be supported by his family forever, as long as he's there to keep Alice company.
He's been in the mansion long enough now to have some idea of habits, but he spends some time lurking around in the corners of hallways and then waiting for someone to leave their room. He slips in after them and looks around their room for things of interest, eating whatever food he might find if it looks good.
[ OOC: Come home to find Kevin in your room! Or run into him on your way in/his way out "help" him turn into a raccoon! Or meet in some other way -- I'm easy. :) ]

And who does Abigail know in Wonderland who, from the sounds of it, has seen his fair share of weird shit? Kevin. So she searches him out, turns up at the door of his room and knocks, hoping he will be there and willing to provide her with some kind of answer, or at the very least, a relatively sane person she can vent her frustrations to. He has a way of being incredibly laid-back about even the most horrific of things. Perhaps he will be able to provide her with some perspective.

When people come knocking on his door, though, Kevin quietly freaks out. He doesn't know who's on the other side of that door. It could be family, or it could be someone else, and as much as Kevin occasionally struggles with the family curse, he's still cautious around outsiders. Well, when the outsiders are around. It's different when their room is empty, right?
He approaches the door slowly and then presses his ear against the door, but he can't hear anything. He opens it slowly, just a crack, and he's staring hard to see who it is. Even then, he doesn't pull the door open all the way, not yet, but he at least looks a little less suspicious.
"Abigail?"

Abigail thinks about giving some excuse and leaving him alone, since he's so obviously having a bit of a moment, but she decides against it. Maybe it's something she can help with. She doesn't exactly have a whole lot of friends here, and Kevin was good to her when she was unravelling during the last event.
"Kevin," she greets, her hands twisting together as she tries to ignore how awkward the whole situation is. "I hadn't seen you around for a bit." It's not exactly the most complete of explanations for why she's here, but it will have to do. Abigail isn't exactly about to come out and say that she was worried he might have disappeared.

"Oh, um. Right. Hi." He doesn't want to chase her off completely, but this isn't about her; it's about Kevin and the risk he's taking in hanging out with her.
When was the last time he saw Abigail? As true as her statement might be, Kevin's also not buying that as her reason for stopping by. What, does she want to borrow some sugar? Because all Kevin has in his room right now is a supply of almonds and a bunch of raccoons.
Something crashes loudly in the room behind him, followed by the sounds of animals chittering. Kevin's eyes widen and he just barely stops himself from slamming the door.

Abigail knows her animal sounds. The crash startles her, too, and then she asks, puzzled, "Is there a raccoon in your room?"
no subject
"Um... Yes. You've seen all those animals around the Mansion. A raccoon got into my room, and it's -- um." He opens the door quickly and steps outside, but he also makes sure to put space between himself and Abigail.
"Let's just talk out here. It's kind of a mess in there."
Okay, Kevin. Play normal. He puts on a smile.
"...hi. What's up?"
no subject
She doesn't pretend his feeble lie of a raccoon just happening into his room is at all convincing. If he'd wanted it out, he'd have asked for help chasing it out. Abigail will play along, sometimes, but she has no interest in doing that with Kevin right now. She wants to know what's upsetting him, and she has a guess.
"Is that raccoon a person?" She meets his eyes, doesn't blink or look away. All the better to see if he's being honest. "I know all about what's going on. There are a bunch of people convinced they're people they are not, and if they come into contact with someone of the opposite sex they turn into animals."
It doesn't occur to her yet that Kevin, too, might be affected. Not everyone is, and she's having a hard time distinguishing who is and who isn't, at this point. Perhaps she would have been more subtle about her approach, but she is too eager to talk with Kevin about what the hell is wrong with everyone, and whether he thinks the changes in people's memories will be permanent.
no subject
Oh... Apparently she already knows. So... That takes care of that.
Kevin freezes, and then he glances around them, opens up her room, and tugs her in after him. There are raccoon here and there; Kevin set up litter boxes and gave them toys and food, and they're mostly behaving.
"Who else knows that you know?"
no subject
"Oh, not you too." Abigail doesn't bother to hide the irritation in her voice. She'd been hoping to chat with Kevin, to have his sympathetic ear and sense of humor for the ridiculousness of this whole situation. But if he's mired in it, thinking he's a Liddell and remembering a different version of his life and himself, she is going to have to do without that. Can she not count on anyone for even the smallest thing?
"Lemme guess. You think your last name's Liddell and if I-" she makes a move towards him, as if intending to hug him. She doesn't plan on actually doing it, just seeing if he flinches away, but his room really is a mess and a raccoon scurries underfoot at a particularly inopportune moment, so that Abigail loses her balance and falls headlong at Kevin.

And soon after, Kevin is a raccoon in a pile of clothes that he was wearing.
"Great," he mutters, popping his head out of his shirt. He waddles out of his clothes and over to his nightstand, where he climbs up onto his bed and starts rooting around in the nightstand drawer for some nuts.
"Seriously, though, who else knows? Because this is kind of a huge deal, and we could be in some serious trouble."
no subject
Her smile fades when he keeps talking, however. "It's really not," Abigail can't quite stop herself from saying. The animal transformations are strange and rather delightful, but this whole mass delusion is starting to get very tedious.
"I don't know who knows, but it doesn't matter." She sighs, not sure she has a 'you're not who you think you are' explanation left in her, today. And it probably all feels real, to him. So rather than explain she just says (with a certain weariness in her voice), "Don't worry, I can keep a secret."
no subject
"It does matter, but just be careful. And watch for if anyone's... tailing you or something." He's not actually sure how this works, but he's sure that word would get back eventually.
"Anyway, so..." Now Kevin's a raccoon. He holds up his hands in a kind of a shrug. "Surprise."
