Bad Movie Night | OTA

Who: Billy Kaplan ([personal profile] actualwizard ), Teddy Altman ([personal profile] hulk_ling ) and YOU
Where: The brand new theater on the fourth floor
When: Saturday Night
Rating: PG-13 unless people are offended by sharks in tornados
Summary: Bad Movie Night featuring Sharknado and Sharknado 2: The Second One
The Story:

Billy and Teddy spent most of the week taking over two rooms on the fourth floor. By Saturday night they have everything set up on Wonderland's new theater. When you walk in the first thing you'll see is the large screen on the back wall. The boys have piled large pillows up in the front of the room. Behind them there are plenty of couches and recliners for everyone to pile onto. In the back of the room people will find a stocked snack bar filled with candy, popcorn and soda and other goodies that people have brought for the night.

The walls are adorned with framed movie posters from classic movies and some of the boys' favorites, and Teddy has thrown stuffed sharks of various sizes around the room to add atmosphere.

The boys have put a lot of work into this room and it shows. The first film will start promptly at 8 pm and the second will start at 10 (with a thirty minute intermission/bathroom break in between). Feel free to MST3K your way through the movies or chat quietly over how ridiculous all of this is. Did you bring alcohol? Feel like taking a drink each time one of the sharks takes a bite of someone? It’s your party, just try not to get too rowdy or you might find a rather large, green, Hulk-like bouncer there to break things up.

It’s all in good fun!

Need some prompts to get those wallflower characters moving? Here you go:

Scene 1 - Pre-show

Teddy and Billy are busy working to make sure every last piece of equipment works and that there are enough seats for everyone. The boys are probably playing one of their word games “Would You Rather?” with nerdy results. Feel free to pop by early with your snacks, get a good seat, or lend a hand!

Scene 2 - Sharknado

The movie has started and wow, it’s worse (or better) than you expected. Make comments to each other or let your conversation meander onto less silly topics. Feel free to munch on the snacks, gossip, or just throw bad commentary at the screen. After all, that’s what bad movies are all about!

Scene 3 - After Party

The movies are over. The party is breaking up but you’re having too much fun and the pillows are so soft. Plus, is that more popcorn I see? Stay and catch up with the people you missed while the movie was playing! I’m sure they have something they’re dying to talk to you about.

Scene 4 - Private Party

So movies aren’t your thing but dark places with soft pillows totally are. Well, you’re not into it for the movie. You’re here to try to make that special connection with someone. Find a corner, build yourselves a nice little pillow fort and have a good old fashioned Movie Theatre make out. Shhh, the boys won’t mind at all.

Feel free to use the prompts or just throw everyone in!

Billy and Teddy are both so glad you came.

At one point during intermission, Natasha peeks into the pillow fort that's started taking shape in the center of the room, her expression amused.

"Is this protection against flying sharks just in case?" she asks teasingly.
voiceinthedark: (Oooh what did you have in mind?)

Sam peers back when he spots someone staring into their fort and then grins, giving a little wave. "Yup. We have to be prepared for any eventuality."

"And pillows are a shark's weakness, I take it? Or is that the chocolate?" she asks, crouching down at the entrance and crossing her arms against her knees. She'd met Sam earlier in the week and he was proving to be very interesting.
voiceinthedark: (Sweet)

"Well, experiments are ongoing but we hope to have a report out before we run out of beer" Sam said, giving a sage nod. "You can come in if you want."

"There's beer?" she grins as she ducks under, eyeing the tent with an amused look. "I'm in. Should have thought of that myself."
voiceinthedark: (That's my Five)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-08-27 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course. It's Sharknado. Can't watch a film like that without beer. You want one?"

He offers her an unopened bottle.

"If you have extra? Sure, thanks," she accepts the offered bottle with a smile, popping the top off and taking a swallow. "So you enjoying it so far?"
voiceinthedark: (Default)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-08-27 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it's good fun! Nice to just get to relax and watch something dumb like this. How about you? Enjoying the Sharkness?"

"'Enjoying' might be stretching things," she chuckles in amusement as she gets comfortable. "But my friends are, and they needed something like this, I think."
voiceinthedark: (Dreamy)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-08-29 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's probably about as good as it gets. I wish-" His face fell for a moment and he shook his head, before holding out a packet of sweets. "Want one?"

She doesn't miss that slip, although she accepts the offered sweets with a smile.

"Thanks. Having homesickness?"
voiceinthedark: (Contemplating)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-08-30 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
He thought about that for a moment, chewing on his lip. "Not exactly. I miss the people at home. I kind of miss the township. But I don't miss being there if that makes sense. I guess I wish I could bring them here."
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Pondering)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-09-01 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"It does make sense," She gives him a small smile in understanding. "From what you've said, I don't blame you for not wanting to go back there, or for wanting to rescue your friends from the same thing."
voiceinthedark: (Resigned)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-09-01 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiles back, a little weakly but there. "It's my job to keep them safe. I kind of feel like I'm failing them, being here and watching dumb movies when they're not."
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Determination)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-09-01 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"From what I know about this place, if you do go back, no time has passed," Natasha answers, shaking her head. "I have friends from all over our... I guess timeline is the best word for it? They're all from events in my past and I know they never went missing for any amount of time, let along for weeks or months. You're not failing anyone by being here, by enjoying the break you have and the fun times you can make for yourself. Enjoy it. Your friends are right where you left them. Safe enough while you're here."
voiceinthedark: (Worried)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-09-01 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huh, yeah, I'd heard something like that. Which is good I suppose." Considering what was happening right now with Five and Van Ark. "You're right. It's just hard to believe."
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Secretive)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-09-01 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I know it is. Nothing like this back where I'm from, either. There were a lot of new concepts for me to wrap my head around."

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-09-01 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Magic and monsters. I mean other than zombies. It's a lot to take in. Quite like the magically appearing food and everything else though."
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Heh)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2014-09-03 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think magic and monsters are supposed to be easy to contemplate anywhere," she answers, lifting her bottle of beer in his direction, her lips quirked in a wry smirk. "Although at least this place isn't all bad, for places we have to be stuck. And we get to do things like this." She waves her hand at the giant flying shark on the screen. "As ridiculous as I feel saying that."
voiceinthedark: (Sweet)

[personal profile] voiceinthedark 2014-09-03 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Probably. Most of the stuff at home does my head in sometimes on good days." You just had days when you still boggled at the existence of the undead. "Well, you know the world can't be too bad when you're watching stupid movies about sharks."
