Remember Remember the Fifth of November
Who: Sam Yao and YOU!
Where: Out on the beach
When: The evening of November 5th
Rating: PG-13 (I imagine so anyway)
Summary: It's Bonfire Night! There's a firework and bonfire party on the beach to celebrate with fireworks and drinks and food.
The Story:
Sam has spent most of the last couple of days down on the beach getting ready for the party; there's firewood to collect and he's got enough to build a fairly large bonfire out on the beach which is burning merrily as soon as the sun goes down. A large table has been dragged out there and set up with food; potatoes and burgers and pork pies, as well as sweeter treats, and there's a selection of drinks available in a cooler next to it.
And of course, in a metal box a little way along the beach, are the fireworks, as many as he could find in all different sizes and shapes.

It's evening, now, but there's still a bit of warmth to the sand under his paws as the Nightfury walks down the beach. Noticing that there are objects gathered on it — which weren't here the last time Toothless was — the dragon's ears perk up, and he presses forward with a long, easy stride to see what's going on.]

He is probably mad, but the dragon (is it a dragon?) hasn't attacked them, seems more interested than anything, like a cat. And it's big enough that it could probably have eaten a couple of them by now if it really wanted to.
He hopes he's right.
There's a block of parkin, sticky ginger-syrup cake on the table, and Sam picks it up and heads over.]
Hungry?

It doesn't matter why the vikings are eating, only that he sniff and inspect it. And try to make off with some, if he can. But this viking coming toward him with food seems to be offering it, and that's even better. Toothless trills quietly, ears perking forward, looking not so much like a dragon so much as a cat as he sniffs at what Sam's carrying.
Then he opens his mouth, licking his chops. Yes, he'll take some of that. Toothless has been relatively fearless about trying new food while in Wonderland.]

Then again, it could have eaten him already. It could have just snatched it, Sam's hand and all.
He holds it out again.]
Go on then. This is for you.

With one smooth, slow movement, the Nightfury licks the cake out of Sam's hand and into his mouth. His tongue is smooth and warm. His saliva is a lot less appealing, in that it has seemingly supernatural abilities to cling to someone's hand. Luckily, it's only clinging to a part of Sam's hand.
With a very conflicted expression — delight and confusion — Toothless begins to chew the cake.]

Except the dragon is being careful. He thinks. And then it moves all at once, tongue shooting out and licking the cake right out of his hand and...
He got drooled on by a dragon.]

Both of his ears go straight up, and then he gives Sam a soft trill in the back of his throat. It seems to be a thank-you.
Shortly before he sniffs Sam's hand again, getting the viking's own scent down to memory.]

He lets the dragon sniff at his hand, holding it out to the dragon again. It's sort of like a big dog when it's like this.]

He can feel that the viking is nervous, and petting him usually solves that problem.]
no subject
He gets to pet a dragon!
Sam pauses for a moment before starting to stroke the dragon's head, watching carefully to see what it likes. It feels strange. Softer than he'd expected, still scaly, but not hard or cold.]

Toothless trills softly, his giant green eyes sliding shut.]
