fireheaded: (her tempers lie untold)

the thing that leaves you in the darkness is her

Who: Antimony, Mirror Annie, and OPEN
Where: The real side and the mirror side
When: After the Queen's announcement
Rating: PG
Summary: Antimony has had a close look at the Core. Mirror Annie rifles through people's belongings. Neither are very stealthy.
The Story:

Antimony, real side, prior to the announcement, closed to James

It should have been safe. She should have been fine. But the Core is too powerful. She starts to feel sick, and her body sways and nearly falls over and her head is throbbing and she has to come back, she has to get her blinker stone away from there.

One moment her body is sitting, eyes closed, expression pained, and the next she's on her back, eyes wide and blinker stone in hand.

But she saw. She saw enough. She pulls out her device and sends an audio message to the first person she can think of. James. He has to know what was in the Core. Maybe he can make sense of what she saw.

"James? It's Antimony. I got a look at the Core. Please meet me in the garden, I'll tell you everything I saw."

The garden may be private enough, with its lack of mirrors. Antimony heads down right away.

Mirror Annie, real side, after the announcement, open

She passes through late, after fretting for who knows how long over whether she'll be able to follow the Queen's orders. She knows her Real only has one thing left that she holds sentimental attachment to, and it's somewhere she can never reach. She leaves one message on the most conspicuous mirror she can find.

"ANTIMONY'S NECKLACE"

No one ever said she wasn't helpful.

In the meantime, though, she has to worry about herself. She gives her Real's room a once over, but she knows she won't be able to find anything. The place is utterly plain, all bare white walls. There is a desk, with a small lamp and some books piled upon it, and a bed. Not much else -- it's the minimum of what anyone would need. Annie can't imagine how anyone could live like this, but now is not the time to marvel at the differences between Mirror and Real. She has to start looking for something to bring to the Queen.

In her panic, she picks rooms at random, and realizes quickly she doesn't really know what she's looking for. Anything of sentimental value, but what is of sentimental value? She hardly pays enough attention to any of the Reals to know that. She's stuffing her pockets with anything that looks remotely unique, but she knows it's likely all useless.

"Junk, junk, junk! What do I do, what do I do," she can be heard saying to herself, not very quietly, as she goes through people's belongings. She's on the verge of outright panicking, breathing heavily and taking breaks to do nothing but whine.

Antimony, mirror side, after the announcement, open

Everything is normal and then it isn't. She was in her room reading and now she is in some other room, filled with clutter, posters of mysterious bands she's never heard of and a mirror through which she can see her own room. Someone who looks like her is inside it, tossing aside books and making a proper mess but then she leaves and Antimony is left wondering what she's looking for.

If only she could just ask.

She considers leaving a message, but decides her Mirror is likely not going to come back, and she doesn't know where she headed off to now. Annie cuts her losses and decides to take the opportunity to look around the Mirrorside mansion.

She knows she's not as sneaky as she wishes she was, so she doesn't try to sneak, opening and closing doors with no pretence of stealth. Eventually she finds a mirror with a message on it, in the entrance hall of the mansion.

"ECALKCEN S'YNOMITNA"

Her hand immediately goes for the antimony symbol pendant hanging from her neck. Only her own Mirror would know to leave a message like that, but what for? Annie tries to rub the words away, but they're on the other side, so nothing comes of the attempt. Instead, she tries to move as far away from the message as possible, hoping not to run into anyone that's seen it.

Would they try to take it? And why? She'd like to know, but she also knows she wouldn't like finding out.

[Prose or brackets is fine; I'll match! Mirror Annie can be found in any room, and Antimony can be found anywhere around the mirrorside mansion.]

Mirror!Annie, please!

[Unlike Antimony, Souji has far too many things that hold sentimental value to him, and now that they're not buried under parakeets, they can actually be found and stolen. His own Mirror didn't have to stay on the Real Side long before he'd made off with something of Souji's.

Back on the Real side now, Souji heads back toward his room only to find someone already there. He doesn't know if it's the Real or the Mirror right off the bat, but things are weird enough that he's wary.]

Antimony?

[He stays in the doorway, pretty easily blocking it.]

[Souji blinks at her because no, this is definitely Antimony's Mirror and what is she even talking about.

It's not hard to surmise, though, given what his own Mirror stole from him. He catches the thing she threw at him, looking at it as he considers, then sets it aside and steps further into the room.]

Do you want some help?

...I'm trying to get you to stop throwing my things.

[Seriously, calm down.]

You have to take something back over there, right?

I could. If you tell me what you're looking for, I can help you find something that will work.

[He moves a bit further into the room, setting down the item in his hand.]

Do you know what it's supposed to be for?

[Souji considers, looking around his room, before stepping over to his desk and picking up a framed picture of a couple and a young girl. He turns to Annie and holds out the picture.]

This is a picture of my uncle and cousin. The Mansion gave it to me once during an event.

You'll have to trust that it is important to me, but I'm willing to give it to you if you need it.

[Souji nods, peering at it.]

The woman is my aunt. She died and I don't remember her. I lived with my uncle and cousin for a year, though, so I know them well.

I don't have a reason not to be.

Besides, if the Queen of Hearts gave you an order, it's better if you do what she said, right?

[Souji blinks and puts an arm around her in turn.]

Don't worry about it, okay? Someday, there will be an opportunity.

[He offers a small, rare smile.]

The next time you can come over, we can talk some more. You probably don't have much time right now, though.
