No, they don't know each other well--Barry has yet to meet Rip, and Rip knows Barry as he will become--yet Rip would hope that there might be some willingness to admit the truth once directly confronted with it. Fortunately, it would seem that Mr. Allen ultimately decides to relent; that quiet sigh is signal enough, and Rip crosses his arms over his chest as the speedster admits his defeat thus far.

Rip looks towards the pool, an entirely ordinary structure in appearance, and yet somehow the apparently landing place for those who would attempt to break the barriers of time or space. "A scientist here attempted to build a portal to travel through dimensions. That wound up leading here as well."
