He doesn't need to tell her he hasn't found Caroline yet, either. Chloe reads it on his face, in the shift of his weight. She lets out a breath of air, an almost prayer to a god she doesn't even think can hear her. She just has to believe she will find the girls; and if she doesn't, that they will be safe.
She is relieved to know Freya is okay, at least, and she stares at the ground as he walks past her, averting her gaze from his as he asks about Lucifer. Chloe didn't tell him when she left, although he is bound to know by now.
"Confined to the safe zone. Detective's orders," she responds, but she's unable to meet his gaze. She feels ashamed, in the knowledge that she is out here, in the thick of it, leaving him behind with no warning. "It's better. The farther I am from him the safer he is, and I don't think I can get much farther than this."
Freya knows she makes Lucifer mortal, and she assumes Klaus does as well, considering what happened after her arrival. He, of all people, knows how vulnerable Lucifer has become.
