Asriel turns sharply. He recognizes Mikan, and normally he'd apologize and try to act like nothing was wrong, despite his outburst. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen.

"This place is so stupid! I didn't even want to be here, I don't even know why it needs me here when I don't have a SOUL-"

The words spill out before Asriel can stop them. He stammers, trying to cover up what he just said.

"I-I mean, I'm dead back home-" No no no, that's not what he wanted to say either! "I mean I died, but I came back and I shouldn't have-"
