[Undyne lets Alphys comfort her, staring down at the beanbag below her. She doesn't like having to feel this way. It's nothing like the person she once was. Being unable to appreciate the positives of everything... She was never exactly Papyrus, but she used to at least be able to be sure of herself, sure of her power to make things right if they go wrong.
Until that was proven wrong. Even if her friends are alive and well here, her inability to protect them was a blow to Undyne that will take a long time to recover from.
But then Alphys goes and asks about the photos and the dream, and Undyne's scales start to flush.]
Well, uh... During that event where everyone got gifts from RQ or whoever, I got some too... I don't have them right now or I'd show you. They're photographs of... us. Being here and, um, spending time together, only I don't remember anything in them. And then I had that dream about you getting that letter I wrote!
[Undyne buries her face in her hands in shame.]
That stupid embarrassing letter!!!! Only you thought the human-- you thought Frisk gave it to you!!! Because I was too chicken to sign it or even deliver it myself!!!
[She starts thrashing around in the beanbag, unable to stop herself from explaining one of the most embarrassing things she's ever witnessed herself do and unable to stop herself from feeling the full shame of it.]
