Summary: Once a horseman, always a horseman
The Story:
Since talking to Claire about the stables, Jamie's not been able to get it out of his mind. He's missed being able to ride and so he gets up early one morning and decides to find these stables and see what horses are there.
He's still having a bit of trouble with navigating the mansion and the grounds, if only because things here in Wonderland aren't always what they seem. Still, it's easy enough to find the stables and he walks up and down the stalls, trying to decide which of the horses he wants to take out for the day. He decides on a bay mare; she seems even-tempered enough and while he'd ridden hot tempered horses in his day today isna a day he's looking to break his neck. Claire would never forgive him that.
He coaxes the mare outside of her stall and tacks up, swinging atop the horse and riding for a long while until both are tired and in want of a drink. He takes his time brushing her down afterward, murmuring nonsense to her in Gaelic, and when he's done, he decides to take to the gardens for a stroll.
This is where he'd first come to Wonderland, after all, and he's always been drawn to the spot. He'd been dying there on Culloden field and then, all of a sudden, in a garden pond. It's magic and it's something he'll never be able to ken properly, no matter how many visits he makes to this place.
