overclocking from a buggy program

Who: Leo Fitz and YOU
Where: Pretty much all over, but mostly inside the mansion and later out on the grounds
When: During the Reaper event, 4/28-5/02
Rating: Will warn for anything over PG
Summary: Fitz had an idea about subverting the reaper's signals, but indoctrination has a eay of subverting the best laid plans. He's available here at all stages of indoctrination, and please feel free to hit up his plotting comment if you want to work out anything more specifically tailored.
The Story:

[Day 1, post-warning]

[It's something he's seen before, in passing. It doesn't quite come together until Shepard claims familiarity wiht the ship outside. She warns about its methodology and the methods it uses to stage its attacks. Apparently it's utilizing a technological virus that spreads itself through transmission, which the human mind understands in only a limited capacity. The problem seems to be a lack of understanding, and to Fitz, that seems like an opportunity for research and development.

He gathers what little he has left from the time they spent at the Citadel, the scraps and baubles that haven't done their duty previously in construction of the ill-fated portal experiment. If they're able to receive what the reapers are sending, then perhaps it can be analyzed and have the contaminating element stripped out. Is there a vaccination waiting to be discovered? There's only one way to find out!

He'll be in the lab working on this project for the next straight daybuilding an antenna structure to intercept the reapers' signal. It might be hard to pry him away from his work, but food and blankets are both equally welcome.]

[Day 2]

[When the structure is finally complete, Fitz switches it on. There's a particular noise, but he's not sure what to make of it. He hooks a headset to it, monitoring the shape of the soundwaves and filtering it against different frequencies. It almost sounds like it's speaking in a language he understands. He probably just needs to listen a bit more...

But no, it's probably nothing. He sets down the project after that and heads out to the kitchen, to catch a quick bite and maybe talk to some others about the state of events thus far. Maybe he just needs to talk about the reapers more. He can't help but feel terribly curious about their agenda.]

[Day 3]

[People seem so suspicious on the third day. They don't understand what they're missing. They don't know how much easier everything is when the Reaper takes care of everything. They just need to be shown. By force, if necessary.

But force isn't the best utilization of Fitz's abilities. Instead, he'll wander around the mansion and approach people warily, keeping decidedly out of arm's length.]

You're not one of them, are you?

[Some people need to be tricked into accepting what's best for them. They'll thank him later when they understand.]

[Day 4]

[This must be what freedom feels like. He's acting more than spending time thinking about what he's doing. He spends time outdoors, surveying for holes in the reapers' coverage. They need more relays built. He'll need help to get the structures up, but he's sure the reaper will send him any new acquaintances it wants him to have. When not building new structures, he'll be working with the relays that have been damaged, replacing damaged chrome and repairing any severed wiring. Hopefully none of the people responsible for doing the damage are still around. They'll have to be dealt with.]

[Last day]

[After the Reaper activates, there's nothing behind his eyes anymore. He doesn't speak or consider acting outside of the menial labor the reaper has him doing. He breathes in regular cycles, blinking in little muscle spasms. Parts of his body are bruised and injured from battles yesterday, but that doesn't mean anything to him. He'll feel pain if the reaper wants him to feel pain. He's with others, but can't muster the curiosity to consider who or what is near him. But he knows that nothing can come near the Reaper. Nothing else matters.

And when it leaves, he'll stay where he is, with a collection of the other Indoctrinated, and wait for the Reaper to return. It doesn't matter how long that takes. Nothing exists if the Reaper doesn't tell it to exist. There's no way to function without it.]
