Who: Henry Mills, Jacinda, Emma, Snow White
Where: Various places, located in prompts.
When: May 11th.
Rating: PG-13 (mentions of death.)
Summary: Henry has failed in pretty much every single way a hero can.
The Story:
[ All of his life, Henry's wanted to be a hero. Parts of him are still cursed but every part of him, cursed or not, has wanted to be some kind of hero. But even cursed, he was made out to be a failure; unable to save his own wife and daughter, watching his entire life, his future, burn right in front of him. It's not true, he knows it isn't true, but the real version of himself hasn't fared any better, not really. He couldn't save his wife and daughter from a curse, apparently. He doesn't even believe at this point back in Hyperion Heights, so how is he supposed to ever get through to Jacinda here to break it? He let himself get Jacinda to Hook's ship and ran off again, going to try and save the day only to be too late. He was just a little too late.
He's avoided his family since then; Jacinda isn't talking to him anyway aside from letting him get her somewhere safe once the Reaper started attacking. ]
Snow; her room
[ He can't avoid talking to her about what happened forever, and neither can his grandmother. He'd knelt down next to her in the rubble, carried her somewhere safe, and sat with her while he waited for her to come back. He didn't want her to be alone, no one should have to be when they die and come back. But as soon as she was awake and he made sure she understood what happened, he left without talking anymore about it. Now he's at her room door, knocking, looking down and not even completely sure of what he's going to say. But as the door opens, he says the first thing that makes sense. ]
I'm so sorry.
[ His voice breaks, he can't help it. ]
I should have been with you. Both of you.
Emma; The Jolly Roger
[ The ship is quiet. Empty. For the majority of Henry's stay in Wonderland, it's been that way since the ship arrived with the Captain. Now Hook's gone again and it's become Henry's retreat once more. But this time he's sent a text to Emma, simply saying talk on the JR? and now he's here with a cold six-pack and drinking as he sits on the deck, looking up at the stars. You'd never guess that a few days ago he was here trying to reassure people everything would be fine, that they'd be safe here. They had been, even him, when maybe he should have been out there. Maybe he could have done something differently, made a different choice, but he hadn't. And now he has to live with the fact that while his mom was indoctrinated, he hadn't been able to do a damned thing.
Again, he's faced with not knowing what to say, so he sits and he drinks, looking up at the stars, waiting on Emma. ]
Jacinda; coffee shop
[ While he means to go back to his room, his feet take him to the coffee shop on impulse, and that's where he stands for a while, right in the doorway watching Jacinda. When the curse is finally broken, when she remembers him, what is she going to think? Did he do enough to protect her, to protect Lucy? And here, well, here, everything is a disaster, but he feels like he still needs to say something to her, apologize more, try to help her understand that what she saw isn't the real story.
Maybe it'll be futile, but after everything that's happened, he needs to make sure she knows it while she's not as angry, now that things have cooled down. Letting out a breath, he walks in and since people can pretty much take care of themselves, he speaks quietly from his side of the counter. ]
Can you take a break? Talk for a minute?
