[Open] Life doesn't discriminate Between the sinners and the saints
Who: Steve Rogers and YOU
Where: Starting on the beach and then around the mansion
When: Saturday 10/20
Rating: PG13?
Summary: Steve is back from home, slightly beat up and looking a little worse for the wear
The Story:
[ One minute he's fighting in Wakanda, over run by Thanos' army, literally. He's on his back on the ground and he's got at least five on top of him that he's struggling to shrug off. The next thing he knows the weight is off him and thats the Bifrost and lightening raining down on the plains of Wakanda. Thor is alive, and thats the biggest relief Steve has felt in two days.
He doesn't even have time for that to sink in before he's blinking and he's definitely not in Wakanda anymore. He's on a beach, sitting on the sand just out of the reach of the water laping at the shore. It all comes back in an instant. Wonderland. He lets out a frustrated noise as he lifts himself up. It had to pull him back right then? In the middle of everything? Right when everything is hanging in the balance? When he doesn't have answers for the questions he knows he'll face.
He sighs and making his way back up to the mansion, theres nothing he can do about it now. But he could use a shower, and a change of clothes. And then there's some people he needs to talk to. He looks like he's been through a war, and he'll probably turn some heads as he heads up to the ninth floor. It might take him a little longer than anticipated. ]

[She doesn't press for more details. If Steve wants to meet somewhere—somewhere private, from the sound of it—then she'll wait to find out face to face. She can be patient.
She'll also be early. Not by much, but she's already there when he arrives, waiting with her arms crossed and a serious expression.]

Hey. This place is still standing I see, how long was I gone?

[Her brow furrows in concern, studying his face.]
How long was it for you?
no subject
[ He looks at her seriously. ]
How much do you want to know? What do you know from Tony?

Thanos’ soldiers tracked down Vision and Wanda in Scotland but we managed to get there in time and stop them. [ He pauses, looking at her closely before he says the next part. ] Bruce is back. He’s the one that warned us, apparently he had been off world for the last two years as the Hulk. He was with Thor when Thanos attacked. He killed half the population of Asgard, and Bruce assumed he also killed Thor.

The news about Thor and Asgard gets a more overt frown, her expression entirely professional concern.]
So Thanos needs these stones, we make sure he doesn't get them. Tony's on the time stone and we protect Vision.
no subject
Exactly. Vision thinks that Wanda’s powers can destroy the stone, but that would destroy Vision. That’s not an option, but Bruce thinks that there’s a way to disconnect the stone and keep Vision alive- so we’re currently in Wakanda. T’challa’s sister is working on a way to separate them and we are holding back Thanos’ army. This place pulled me back in the middle of that.
[ So he doesn’t know what happens, he doesn’t know if Tony succeeds, or if they succeed or if they all fail. He doesn’t like not knowing. ]

She shakes her head.]
You okay? [She can't do anything about what's going on back home. Not now, not here. But she can check on Steve.]
no subject
I think so. Even if I’m not there’s nothing we can do from here.

I know. I’m fine though, and here now, so at least it’s a break. Nothing is going to happen back home until we go back. That’s good anyway. [ He’s not abandoning earth by being here at least. ]

[Which says a lot about what he's been through. Not that Steve hasn't been cagey about his feelings in the past—in some ways, they've had that in common. But there's something a little more hard bitten about his answer than she'd expect from him.
She won't press beyond that, though.]
Small favors. Even if we're here, we don't miss out one whatever's happening back there. No risk of not being there when you're needed.
