[ Looking upon his wife with her youthful features, he's struck by the fact that his wife now - even more than twenty years older - hasn't aged but a day. There's a bit of grey in her hair, true, and a few extra accentuating curves in her cheeks, perhaps (not wrinkles, not to Jamie), but she hasn't aged. Her eyes are the most striking, though. This Claire, there's so much pain she hasn't yet had to carry. It hasn't settled in her eyes like a shadow. ]

Aye. I dinna think the right word exists to explain this place and the circumstances in which we find ourselves.

I've only just met our daughter myself. A few weeks, at most.
