Summary: Alice has invited everyone, Reals and Mirrors alike, to come color outside in the nice spring weather with magic chalk. Surely nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?
The Story:

Outside, the weather is absolutely beautiful. It's not too hot, but not too cold either, and no one would have ever realized there was snow on the ground yesterday if they hadn't been here to see it. The grass is green and everything is dry - no sign of melted snow anywhere at all. Flowers have begun to bloom and it truly looks as though it's been spring for some time already. The season has changed abruptly and now Wonderland's decided it's time for it to be nice out.

There are many paths through the gardens, the vendors, and the hedge maze that can be drawn on, but as Alice demonstrated in her post, there's no need at all to stick to pavement only. Even the air can be decorated with living drawings!

This is a log for people who want to come color outside or people who want to check out what others are doing out here. It isn't strictly to interact with Alice, but she'll be around and will have a top level.

[ Ange knows the Mirrors are around - Alice herself said they got invitations as well, after all. But despite objectively knowing that, she's still just assuming the versions of people she's talking to are the Real ones. Not like she can tell at first glance anyway.. and she's antisocial enough to not assume people she doesn't know would come up and talk to her.

Hence why she only casts a glance over at Lapis' Mirror before already starting on a new drawing. ]

People who are smart enough will know not to get close to them at the very sight of them.

I guess a plague of stupidity wouldn't make much difference to a lot of people, huh?

[Was that a bray in the distance? Anyway, M'Lapis draws closer to watch Ange embark on her next project.]

Still, I hope you're being responsible with this awesome power.

[ Although she doesn't reply to the first part, the total lack of reply makes it pretty clear that Ange agrees on that one. She seems a little focused on her drawing - so far it's just yellow lines without an easy to make out shape just yet - but at least does reply to the second part. ]

It's not like I'm sending out monsters to kill people. I'd say I'm being plenty responsible.

I dunno, idiocy could definitely get someone killed. It just comes down to how you define a monster.

[M'Lapis continues the banter, but she too is focusing with interest on watching Ange draw.]

Define a monster, huh..? I think it'd be kind of cruel to call something that doesn't have bad intentions a monster.

[ Ange keeps drawing while she talks, so the figures are slowly taking shape - a lot smaller than the ones from before. It's a lot of golden butterflies, which move off the ground and start flying away the moment they're finished. ]

It'd at least have to be malicious idiocy to get to that level.

Ah, but if they're stupid enough, they might think they have good intentions when really they're as malicious as anyone else. What's this one a plague of?

[She means the butterflies. That sure was a segue there.]

It's a sign someone really annoying will show up soon.

[ But this time she looks up from her drawings to squint at Lapis instead. Mostly since the other is acting.. kind of cheery? Oddly so for her, anyway. Especially after how Awkward the last time they saw each other was.

Things are finally clicking in her head when she thinks back on what Alice had said. Slowly. But still. ]

.. are you even the real one?

[M'Lapis huffs a little, although she successfully maintains her smile. Dammit, too many people DO know the Real Thing. It's so totally unfair. She knows that's her lot in life, as usual, but it would be so nice to get through an introduction without having her fundamental existence questioned. But whatever! Her poker face is also excellent.]

That's not a very nice way to put it, you know. It's not a problem, is it?

[ She stares at this Lapis for a moment longer before shrugging a little, returning to her drawings. ]

I'm not very good at being nice. [ That's not the whole truth, but also not a total lie, so. Whatever. ] But it's not a problem at all. In fact, this is probably preferable right now.

[ If not mostly just because Ange doesn't feel like figuring out how to navigate the awkward topic of what happened last time she saw the other. ]

[Oh! M'Lapis tries not to look excessively pleased about this development, which is okay since she was already chipper. She should have considered, though, that people knowing the Real Thing might DISLIKE her -- what is there to like? Yes, that makes so much more sense. This sort of thing is exactly why she shouldn't have gotten so tied up in dealing with Peridot all this time, she's really given herself such tunnel vision.]

Wellllll, I guess I can overlook it. Being friendly and lovable all the time isn't easy, it's true.

Would you say you're friendly and lovable most of the time then?

[ There's some genuine curiosity behind the question, even if it's hard to find in Ange's flat tone. But she hasn't gotten to talk much with Mirror versions before, so she has no idea of what they're actually like in practice.

And honestly, she's also just glad to have found a way to steer the conversation as far away as possible from having to discuss anything about her most recent encounter with the real Lapis. ]

[M'Lapis affects a kind of jokily exaggerated boastfulness-under-false-modesty thing, hand to her chest. That's too many layers of irony, but as far as she's concerned she can be both serious and not serious. She likes talking about how great she is, but part of her greatness is being able to make that palatable!]

Oh, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. But we all have our own talents!

.. Dramatics seem to be yours.

[ It's not even a really snide remark. It sounds a little harsher than it's really meant to be, since everything just sounds that way when it's said in Ange's default flat tone, but it's more just an observation.

Even if this Mirror Lapis' dramatics seem a bit more on the jokey side, but it's still a very stark contrast with the Lapis she knows. ]

I guess it's true when they say we're very different from our Mirrors.

[M'Lapis does not, on the other hand, like talking about her Real. She likes it less than ever now that they've met and it just did not go any way she would have preferred. What a waste of time to even have to think of her. But of course it is true that if she is charming and fun to be around, that only puts the Real Thing's shortcomings into sharp relief.]

I think that's kind of the point, yeah. Of course, a lot of Mirrors just suck, so it's no wonder I tend to like you guys better!

You like us better? [ That's also surprising. Sure, things seem a bit more.. "peaceful", if that word could ever be used for this place, ever since the Mirror side was taken over by a different queen. But even without a queen causing animosity, Ange didn't necessarily expect the people from that side to like the ones on this side.

.. or rather, maybe Ange just figures her own Mirror wouldn't really like her. Not that she'd blame her Mirror for it.

She wonders if liking them - the real ones - is just a weird Mirror Lapis thing or not. ]

It must suck to be stuck with them most of the time then.

I knoooooooooooow. [M'Lapis also enjoys moaning about how ~hard~ her life is.] Like, I guess it's gotten a bit better since the new Queen took over, but most of those people are still the same dumb jerks from before.
