+ Chalk it to me! - Mingle Log +

Who: EVERYONE!
Where: Anywhere outside on Real Side, but mostly in the gardens!
When: 3/14-3/20
Rating: PG, warn if going higher than PG-13
Summary: Alice has invited everyone, Reals and Mirrors alike, to come color outside in the nice spring weather with magic chalk. Surely nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?
The Story:

Outside, the weather is absolutely beautiful. It's not too hot, but not too cold either, and no one would have ever realized there was snow on the ground yesterday if they hadn't been here to see it. The grass is green and everything is dry - no sign of melted snow anywhere at all. Flowers have begun to bloom and it truly looks as though it's been spring for some time already. The season has changed abruptly and now Wonderland's decided it's time for it to be nice out.

There are many paths through the gardens, the vendors, and the hedge maze that can be drawn on, but as Alice demonstrated in her post, there's no need at all to stick to pavement only. Even the air can be decorated with living drawings!

This is a log for people who want to come color outside or people who want to check out what others are doing out here. It isn't strictly to interact with Alice, but she'll be around and will have a top level.

[Louis only has part of the story- about what happened to Wirt and Greg in that crazy other dimension ...place. But he knows Wirt was very glad to see that Christmas scene- to know he and Greg had made it home safe. He understands why there's a little tension between them- but he also utterly believes that Wirt wouldn't do this on purpose.

He can see Wirt's Mirror is angry, and he knows he's fighting a corner with half a story. But Wirt's his friend and he'll stick up for him regardless of how much or little he knows.
]

So he made a mistake. People aren't infallible. And from I've heard about him and Greg? He fucking loves Greg. If that happened? Nearly getting him killed? Then I'm goddamn sure he did what he could to fix it. You can't just- just hate people forever, for making a mistake. Even one big as that.

[He could probably listen to his own advice there- but the only grudges Louis truly holds are towards himself. He can't even bring himself to hate Minnie, after all she'd done. Because she... well, she made a mistake too. And she never got to come out of that downward spiral.]

Trust is something that a person earns. It's not your choice to dictate who gets to decide if he's worthy of that or not. I trust him, and I know he can be responsible for other people, too. He's not- he's not the same person you seem to remember.

[The anger has frozen over now, cold and icy, but at least it keeps him from interrupting with a further outburst.]

If trust is something a person earns, then he hasn't earned mine. Obviously people aren't infallible, but you're still wrong.

[He's so comfortable just telling someone they're wrong, and he doesn't beat around the bush or soften the blow with kindness.]

There are some things that are too big for anyone to come back from.

[You can't just forgive everyone. If someone does something terrible, it takes more than just an apology. Words are just words, and he knows what the other Wirt's repeated actions have been.]

Maybe to you, but not to me. I don't think I'm wrong and I don't really give a shit if you think I am. I know my friend.

[But then, that had always been his problem, hadn't it? He hadn't seen how far gone Marlon was- he still thought he could talk Minnie down despite the fact she'd become the Delta's puppet. He didn't believe that there was nothing a person couldn't come back from.

He'd made that mistake once, and once alone- and it nearly got AJ killed. All because he thought there was no coming back from what the kid had done. If Clem and AJ hadn't of come back to them...well, he'd be in the same mess as Minnie. Probably worse.
]

I'd rather believe people can come back from something terrible than assume they're not worth anything for the rest of their days. That's just... a waste of a life, otherwise.

[And life is a very precious commodity.]
