Bill, likewise, wasn't really standing on anything in the first place, and just peers down at this, twirling his cane thoughtfully.

Bill, here, is what you call an extremely verbal guy. We're gonna have some communication issues.

"ALRIGHT. THE EATING, SURE! I'M LOVING THAT, THAT STUFF IS JUST GREAT."

Bill spreads his arms and a ball of light expands between them until there's a little model of Wonderland as he understands it floating like a chessboard. Bill's representation is eerily accurate; everyone on the Real and Mirror sides is exactly where they're sleeping in real life, and in the border between the Dream and Real is a tiny Bill and tiny White Queen, with an even tinier recursive model. The whole thing is enclosed in a pale grey lattice, like a net - that's Bill's artistic license. A little sun and moon start rotating around it.

"LET'S TRY THIS ONE!"

The mouth in the floor reaches up. It's just an illusion, but it reaches up to swallow the little world, passes through both Bill and the White Queen harmlessly. As the teeth close, all the lights go out, except for the firefly glow from Bill's body.

"YOU GET IT DONE!

THEN WHAT?
"

See, this - this is the part that gets you. Bill knows this part very, very well. Then you're alone, with a destroyed world, and your thoughts. Then you have to go look for somewhere else to do the same things. Or wait for life to evolve again. Either one is long, tedious, boring work.

Not that it can be avoided, sometimes. Sometimes they had it coming and you just need to suck up the consequences anyway.
