That comment had been meant as something of a joke, so the fact that Martha's actually right on the money with it is a bit harrowing to realize. That sort of thing should only happen to a person once, if it happens at all, but she realizes that's hardly a realistic thought. How many times has the Doctor had to fight off the Daleks?

Of course, Evelyn's son being a part of the mix makes it far, far more personal, and Martha has to hold back a gasp. There seem to be a number of mothers here, though Martha hadn't realized that Evelyn was one of them. Then again, is it that surprising? Seeing how she's a married woman and all.

"Did you get him back? Or... were you in the middle of all that?" If Evelyn's son wasn't safe, Martha can only imagine she'd be chomping at the bit to get back to it and see to it that he's safe, but she also isn't going to make any assumptions.

She locks the car and drops the keys into her jacket pocket, waiting for Evelyn's response before she goes anywhere.
