He is never ashamed to admit where he himself lies on it and where Balthazar is compared to those among the angels. Unlike what most may come to believe, Death does not particularly care in a boastful manner in comparison.
He is more interested in what they do or do not do with their position.
"I believe we both went out of our way to assist those who we felt should have done their own work. Considering what happened to you, I wonder if you regret any of that or not."
Death is subtle as usual. As for that last remark...
"I do not know if I would call this place better. It is different. No offense I suppose, but death has no meaning here in terms of what I am accustomed to controlling."
