Of course, there's always the chance that these images are faked and are tailored to deceive them and set them off course. They've all been taking them at face value, and this is the first time that Castiel's seriously considered that it's all one big farce.
Still, Dean and the others who are back from the future, they're real. Castiel would definitely be able to tell the difference, and none of them have contradicted any of this.
