Crowley actually stops walking for a moment before he lets himself scramble to catch up again. That's a lot more than stomaching his own death. From what Dean is saying, he'll die in this whole thing, so it's paramount that they prevent that, both his own death and whatever else goes along with it. Mostly his death is what concerns him, though.
"Might you have any friends around who helped you with that last pesky Apocalypse?" He pauses. "Oh. Oh, wait! Wasn't I there? Might I want to help? Why, yes, Squirrel, I think we should save Wonderland!"
