Open!
Who: Sirius Black and YOU!
Where: Just inside the great hall and then various places as he goes in search of a familiar face.
When: Very early morning of January 13th
Rating: PG
Summary: A very cold and soggy Sirius has appeared in the snow in the wee hours of the morning. Someone please come dry him off before he starts to smell. And maybe feed him. And a warm dressing gown would be nice, and, oh, where is he exactly?
The Story:
He had to confess that first he was convinced this was a dream. Tangible and vivid as it was, the last thing he remembered was going to bed and this was most definitely not The Potter's house. Everything felt different, everything smelled different, and while it was immediately interesting the sudden change was also nothing short of alarming. It all registered as a punch to the chest might and he jumped back with a yelp, whipping around, confused and disoriented and alone.
There were no familiar landmarks, no streets, no postage, nothing. Just gardens covered in a blanket of snow and a large house he didn't know, surrounded by a forest whose trees all seemed to be carefully wrapped with colorful knitting. There was a fleeting moment when he smirked at the tree cozies and thought of his distant relations The Weasleys, thinking it was something they might be held accountable for, but it was only for a moment. All his senses were clogged from the sudden change, it was too cold, the wind too strong. He felt half drunk, mind chugging along half pace as he tried to reason out his situation. This was not his home. This was not his bed. This was not right at all.
Slowly, slowly, Sirius came back to the present and felt the cold begin to bite into his skin. A shiver ran through his shoulders as the wind tore through his bed clothes, pushing him to act. A sting of explicates dropped from his mouth like pearls and he trudged towards the house. Wet, freezing, and half naked he had somehow managed to find himself in what appeared to the the English Arctic. But, for some reason, he had appeared with his wand. So that was something. If not incredibly foreboding.
Outside was bleak and only just breaking dawn over the horizon, baby pinks and deep lavenders beginning to rise up from behind the trees. Sirius would have noted how beautiful it looked if he knew where he was. And wasn't standing in a snow bank half naked.
He reached the house and tentatively pushed the door of the main entrance open, sliding through and closing it carefully behind him, wand at the ready should this be a trap of some kind.
"Hello?"
He was technically breaking and entering, but in light of the circumstances no one could really blame him, could they? Bleary eyes adjusted to the cheery lights of the foyer and he tipped back against the door. It wasn't Hogwarts, but it was definitely something and the same feeling of awe as his first day of school washed over him. It didn't do much to ease his frazzled nerves, though. He was still somewhere completely new, lost with chattering teeth. And he was still alone.
