Sam had just sort of woken up from his pained stupor when Tom walked in. Honestly, he's surprised to see the guy, and almost mistakes him for Dean, if only because he's been trying to avoid his brother after recent unpleasant memories came back. Still, he can tell that it's Tom quickly, and settles in a bit, offering the other guy a fleeting half-smile.
"Hey," he regards Tom back with a slight nod, moving to try and sit up a bit more. It's painful, but he's had worse, and he's not one for complaining. Looking the other man over, Sam can see that he seems fine, hasn't been sliced up like some of the other survivors. That's a relief, at least.
