Anywhere else, I'd say they could count themselves lucky, considering they never had reason to learn.

She was passionate about it, for what she felt were all the right reasons. She was proud of herself for knowing how to take care of herself as well as she did, but sometimes, now and then-- it would have been nice to sleep a little easier.]

My dad taught me to shoot when I was little. Kind of expanded from there.
