There is some considerable pride under those black scales, behind the large green eyes, but Toothless is wrapped up in the scritchings that he's receiving. His purr just gets louder as Al scratches against the slightly rougher scales on his chin, scales right up against the bone. They get itchy quite easily, and Toothless has learned to turn to Hiccup for help where they're concerned. Al is just as good, for the moment.
