Bucky releases a slow breath he hadn't realized he was holding. He doesn't expect that last bit to hit him as hard as it does. He sets the wine glass down, rubs his thumb absently over the palm of his left hand. It's not an unthinking promise, and he prefers it that way, because he can believe that she'll keep it.

"Thank you. I don't want anyone to get hurt because we're keeping this from them. If I disappear before I do it, yeah, you've gotta help Steve break the news, but until then... I just want a little more time."
