Take Me Out
Who: Crowley (
goesdown) and John Blake (
oversight)
Where: Outside 034; Fifth Floor
When: October 13, 2014; Evening
Rating: R
Summary: After four days of purposefully missed connection, Blake and Crowley finally run in to each other to discuss the troubling signals Blake received during an earlier conversation with Sam Winchester.
The Story:
There's nothing quite like a moral, ethical, emotional decision to weigh heavily on a guy's mind, especially when he's been almost notoriously characterized as a stoic and unyielding individual. And yet the last several days John Blake's kept (mostly) to himself, avoiding his room, avoiding the fourth and fifth floors in general where he can, and taking the time necessary to convince himself he's not a goddamn coward.
He should just ask. That had been his original conclusion and it had been the sage advice that was given to him when he unburdened on Natasha, but it doesn't feel as easy as that. Especially since John's not certain he wants to know the answer.
Crowley's done a lot of bad things, made a lot of decisions that most everyone refers to as one mistake after another, but he's not bad. Or, he hasn't been, at least. Blake can't believe he is, not after all this time in Wonderland, after all the strides they'd made both together and separate. For a while it felt so much like a success story, he's not even sure why he's surprised when he suddenly looks down and expects the floor, only to have it pulled out from beneath him.
There's no way he's been duped. Not for this long. And Crowley— Crowley cares enough that he's not going to jeopardize that, right? It's probably nothing. A misunderstanding. Mixed signals.
It's whatever excuse Blake has to tell himself before coming to stop outside the demon's bedroom door. He'll ask, get it out there, and that's— that's just how it's going to be. No drama, no mess, no lies. That's them and he's just convincing himself of that for one second more when the door opens and he finds himself face-to-face with the man of the hour.
"Oh, hey..."
