"I didn't think --" what, that he was worth it? That she'd ever be interested? Something like that. He just leaves his sentence hanging there, at that.

The fact that she's moving fast barely phases him. In some ways, he's grateful that she's making the first move: if he was the one suggesting she come back to his place, he'd have to figure out the logistics of making sure both his college-aged son and his brother were not home -- or risk terrible awkwardness. It wasn't something that he wanted to think about right now.

Actually, he doesn't want to think about anything right now except the way that her lips felt against his fingers - what they might feel like brushing against other parts of his body. He finishes the rest of the wine he has in his glass and glances at the meal they're nearly done.

"As long as you won't think me old-fashioned for wanting to take care of the bill myself."
