let's have an adventure [OPEN]
Who: Martha Jones Marissa Jacobs and YOU
Where: Storybrooke, Maine
When: 10/24 - 10/28
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Dr. Marissa Jacobs is accomplished in her field and she gets along with most of the other people in Storybrooke, but she can't help but feel stagnant, like there's something more waiting for her out there in the world. So why hasn't she left?
The Story:
October 24th: (OPEN)
Yet another week has reached its end. It's Friday, and as Marissa walks into Storybrooke General with her cup of coffee and her briefcase full of patient information and files, she yet again has to reflect on how this is one of the highlights of her week. That it's bloody Friday. Even though she loves being a doctor and helping people, she still looks forward to her weekends, if only because it allows for some break, however small, in her routine.
She's still got to get through the day, though, and so she prepares herself to check in with her fellow doctors and then tackle her clinic schedule. It's not as full-up as she would like, though. If she at least had a steady stream of patients coming in, maybe the day would go a little faster.
October 25th: (OPEN)
While Marissa's plan is to sleep in on Saturday and have a lazy day where she doesn't get out of her pyjamas until noon, there's a very rude awakening for her when her pager goes off and she's ordered to head back into the hospital as there's been a flood of people showing up at the ER.
No one's entirely certain what's happening, but people seem to think that they've developed odd powers. More likely there's something else going on, some medical reason that they think that they're suddenly stronger or faster than before -- at least, that's what Marissa tells herself at first.
After she's seen a few patients, some who can do things that should not be humanly possible (even though they may not be able to control it very well), she has to have a good long think about what might be going on. She doesn't have any newfound skills of her own, but is this a sign that things are finally changing in this backwoods town?
October 26th: (For Benjamin Dutton/Sam Wilson)
Now that Marissa has realized that there are people in Storybrooke who are not so ordinary after all, she finally feels like she can take the next step in her life. She wants to get to the bottom of all this. She wants to figure out what's going on and why this has suddenly happened, and if that means leaving the town itself behind, then so be it.
There is one problem, though, one reason that she hasn't left before now. And that's Benji.
Maybe she can convince him to come with her. It's not like there's much for him here, but his parole officer might have something else to say about it. Marissa doesn't think she has it in her to leave him behind when he's been relying so heavily on her, but they definitely need to talk about what's been happening around town.
So even though she leaves any conversation of theirs heartbroken, she shows up at his apartment and knocks on the door.
October 27th-28th: (OPEN)
Marissa -- or is it Martha? -- wakes up with a sudden shock, and gracelessly falls out of her bed and onto the floor.
It's almost painful, the onslaught of new memories and how they war with a life that she's grown too comfortable with. On the other hand, suddenly there's so much that makes sense about her life and how empty it had felt. It's because she never really got to thrive or explore. She's meant for so much more than this, and now she finally has proof of that.
Except that she has no idea where any of this came from. She does know down into her bones that her life as Martha Jones is just as real, if not more real, than her life as Marissa Jacobs.
But there's still a job that expects her to be there, and it's only after going into work that she confirms everyone else is experiencing the same thing.
An event. This whole thing was just another event. And yet it's not that simple, is it? Martha skips out from work early in order to search the town, even though she doesn't really know what she's looking for. Eventually she ends up at the town line, and she wonders if it maybe all it takes to break this confusing spell in her head would be to cross.
