The hand on his shoulder gives him pause and he's half-relaxed, half-unsure with the touch. They hadn't spoken in a long time, but they had shared so much of their lives together. He wasn't comfortable with yet another crossing his path and learning his secret but it's not like he could hide what he felt from her. He could lie, but it wouldn't make this any easier.
