It's definitely the reassurance he needs and that's before he even hears the mention of the church, heart beating hard in relief. The praise has the principate's cheeks flushing as he tries to wave it off. Getting such remarks from Gabriel himself is way above his paygrade, but at the same time he won't refuse it. Pshaw. William isn't stupid enough to refuse anything his leader throws at him, and so he listens to the sociable comment with complete enthusiasm.
