He had always seemed so well put-together during their previous meetings, and yet she doesn't find the state of things to be startling at all, circumstances being what they are. She imagines that many of them are not quite at their best, watching bittersweet memories and allowing themselves to be haunted by ghosts of the past if they're predisposed towards such things. Some part of her had thought that Dr. Frankenstein might be. He seemed the type.

She smiles carefully, reserved and taking care not to look him over too critically-- but when she sees him, she feels suddenly at a loss, and she knows whatever that feeling is, it's not hers.

"I'm not entirely sure, myself," she says honestly, glancing past him to get a glimpse of the scene within over his shoulder, but from where she stands, there's not much to be seen. "I felt compelled to stop. To see how this event had treated you, I suppose."
