It is primarily an awkward, unsalvageable situation because Evelyn stepped into it with a perfect stranger by quite literally stepping into his rooms without knocking or asking first. If he hasn't left their room already, Rick is very likely waking up now and wondering why his wife has wandered so far from the nest.
