The tunnels are real and so are the darkspawn so it seems possible at least that this is some part of the real thing magically linked to Wonderland that might offer a way home.

It's at least worth looking. And he would still be down here if he knew for sure they didn't connect to Thedas because he's a Warden and there are darkspawn. Which he thinks is a far better reason for his presence than Zelena's.

Killing darkspawn is always a good thing, so long as the people doing the killing don't end up falling victim to the taint or getting killed themselves.
