Summary: A recent run-in with Lucifer has inspired Joe to double up on bar security, just in case.
The Story:
Joe has been hard at work for days, in between his usual responsibilities concerning the bar and helping his wife out in the gym down on the first floor-- in particular, it was a very specific encounter during recent weeks that had reminded him that not everyone in Wonderland was the sort of potential customer he wanted walking through that door. As far as Lucy herself went, Joe knows there's not a lot of precautions that can be taken against her: wariness is all he has in that situation, but Wonderland has never had any shortage of demons or vampires. He's had his own staff attacked on the job, murdered in cold blood by a hungry vampire when they were closing up after hours, and since then, he'd always been sure to keep the bar supplied with a variety of weapons and other deterrents, even more than the standard-issue defenses he'd had in place before-- but it never hurt to stop and take stock, and to reinforce the defenses that had initially been put in place years earlier.
Friday and Saturday will find him in the bar, waiting on people as needed, or letting Simone take over while he takes a time out to re-paint the devil's trap on the ceiling above the front door or to re-salt the hidden compartments he'd cut into each and every windowsill ages ago. He's already pulled up and replaced the floorboards in front of the door to reinforce the salt line there, and the center section of shelves beneath the bar itself has been restocked: gallons of holy water lined up, each with a rosary suspended within, as well as the vervain he'd been introduced to a couple of years before during some unfortunate encounters with various Mikaelsons. It had been unpleasant, but also an opportunity to learn firsthand how to guard against a breed of vampires from a world other than his own, and for a hunter, that kind of information was invaluable. Aside from the standard shotgun stowed beneath the bar, he makes sure to restock the locked cabinet full of ammunition: iron, silver and salt rounds, enough to suit whatever need any of the bar's usual employees might have. None of it was foolproof, but it would sure go a hell of a long way to keep any more of his employees from getting eaten.
Following his reinforcement of the bar's usual defenses, he'll branch out, spending most of Sunday down in the gym, assisting anyone who needs it and wiping down the machines before heading out to spend the latter part of the afternoon at the shooting range down by the beach. For the most part, it's business as usual: he's always liked to keep busy, especially here when he's stuck in one place. Being tethered to one place had never sat well with him, not back home, and he'd hit the road to take up hunting as soon as he'd been able-- here, travel wasn't a choice, but the life he'd managed to put together more than made up for it.
