mixing prompts you're not my mom

It's hard being who they are and doing what they do. Chuck comes from a family of heroes, he understands the structures of it better, but Raleigh doesn't. He came from normal people who produced three freak kids because his grandpa was a mutant and never told anyone until it was too late. He comes from the other side of it when being different is wrong and scary and dangerous. It ruined his life. It stole his brother and sister and if he could give it all up and be normal he would. In a heartbeat. No questions asked.

Some people are in the same boat as he is. A lot aren't. But the thing he likes and simultaneously hates about Chuck Hansen is how effortless he is. Effortlessly trained. Effortlessly skilled. Effortlessly blended into mutant culture. And they've somehow, through cutting words, painful fists and redemption under the heat of battle, managed to forge something of a rivaling friendship. And Raleigh likes that.

He likes that he has the option to not always be alone. He can have a friend-- well. Something close to that. He'd like to think friend. There's a chemistry there he isn't quite willing to explore in any other direction so when he seeks Chuck out it's under the guise of something other than simply wanting to be in his presence. He looks through the shelves of books in the facility library and ignores Chuck past a good natured hello and nod. He isn't 'here to see you, no way. He's here for a book of his own. Something terribly interesting to only him because he doesn't know anyone else all that interested in American History and that's fine. More for him.

Finally, Raleigh chooses a biography on President Taft and settles in a comfortable chair, even though he is hyper aware that he is potentially sitting in the middle of a firebomb deathtrap if he has a moment in here. He should get out as soon as possible and sit in the walk in fridge in the facility kitchen but.. its dark in there and he's lonely...

"Dante, huh" He eventually says, catching Chuck's reading material of choice. "Are you always so serious?" Christ, that's not an easy one.
