Bucky's face is impassive as he speaks, but in true Mettaton form, since the conversation is partially about him, he doesn't mind. So long as the questions keep coming and he makes some effort to be engaged, the robot isn't offended at all if he isn't 100% showing his interest.

So he was a part of the military? That explains Bucky's general demeanor, though Mettaton's only frame of reference for what a soldier does is related to their Royal Guard to the king which didn't do any real fighting.
