[This.. is not normally the way that he would choose to spend his time, but exploring each opportunity given to him in this strange place - for a way out, or simply a better understanding of what exactly is going on - draws him first to the colourful ribbons, down the path, and deep into the forest.
Walking too far into dark forests has always been something expressly forbidden (at least, when it comes to a particular forest, which is more than enough forest for anyone), but Tom feels little apprehension as he walks between the thick trunks and high boughs, declining to quicken his pace when he spies the flickering campfires ahead.
He approaches one and warms his hands against the flames, a surreptitious glance cast around him to take in the scene. Everything has been some kind of celebration, so far, with those strange clues scattered about. He has been paying some attention to those, but others have been hard at work to solve them and why try so much when others will do the work for you. Eavesdropping has already served him well.
Tom can't stay here. There are things he still has to do; plans he has to carry out.
Looking up, his eyes fall on the bird and he frowns, lowering his hands from the warmth of the flames.]
Surely a Ravenclaw would be more suited to this kind of continued foolishness.
