The Story:

The Kitchen

Rick had heard a lot of talk about magic things like closets that gave out whatever anyone wanted, and food being basically unlimited, but he was the type of guy who didn't believe things until he'd actually seen them. In his world, things like magic didn't exist, so he definitely needed firsthand proof.

So, after a few days of downtime during which he settled in and relied on the closets for what he needed, he ventured out to the kitchen to see for himself. Once there, though, he realized he didn't know where to start. For months, he'd just scavenged what food he could find, raiding abandoned houses, and if the circumstances allowed, trying to grow it himself.

Now, though, he was faced with a fully stocked kitchen, and it was all a little overwhelming. So he started with the refrigerator and worked his way around the room, opening all the cupboards one at a time, trying to come up with an idea to start with.

The Library

The library wasn't the first place on Rick's list, but as he was making his way down the halls, he saw it, and not having any other pressing needs at the moment, he decided to go in for a look.

What he really wanted to find was something talking about current events, not necessarily from where he'd come from, but from other places. If the theories he'd heard so far could believe, there were multiple universes, not just the one he knew. The whole world apparently hadn't gone to hell, just certain worlds had.

He didn't understand that at all, but he was trying to take it in stride. So he walked into the library with that thought in mind. It didn't appear to him that there were any newspapers there, so he thought he'd try for a history book instead. Now if only he could just locate the history section in what seemed to be easily the biggest library he'd seen in awhile.

The Pool

It had been a long time since Rick had done anything remotely close to swimming in a pool. In fact, he couldn't really identify a specific time when he had done something like that. But it was a sort of spur of the moment thing that led him to the room containing the pool, and going against what he thought was his better judgment, he'd donned a pair of swim trunks and was standing by the pool's edge as if trying to decide if he should go for it and jump in.

If Lori or Carl could see him now, they'd probably laugh their heads off at him, but seeing as how they weren't, he decided to take a risk (not much of one, but still, something not entirely in his comfort zone) and go for a swim.
