Summary: The adults are celebrating New Year's Even in their own way, but what about the younger crowd?
The Story:

[The idea had actually been Coraline's, way back around Halloween. New Year's was pretty important back home, and in the wake of Wonderland's most recent event, Kanji was missing home more than usual. This would be the first New Year's he'd be spending without his mom. There was no shrine to visit here, and while he could still go around and offer New Year's greetings to his friends, he still felt like there should be something more.

Coraline's idea for a sundae bar seems like a pretty good solution. A lot of the adults in Wonderland will be ringing in the new year with alcohol, but that didn't mean the younger crowd had to miss out entirely. It's nothing like the traditions he would have observed back home, but-- since he wasn't at home, maybe doing something totally different was the way to go.

He has to ask Coraline for her expertise, not exactly knowing what goes into putting together a sundae bar, but he helps with the legwork and the lifting. By the time evening rolls around, the youth center has been turned into an ice cream buffet with an extensive toppings bar, including candy that had been inspired by some of the treats that Dustin had handed out to people for Christmas. Once everything is set up, he sends a text out across the network to grab people's attention-- can't have a party without people!]

Yo, Wonderland! Too young to drink? Youth center's got all the ice cream you can eat, come ring in the New Year right!

[Or, you know. By sending yourself into sugar shock.]

[Looking at Maya, Souji points to Kanji. There is the explanation, and there is also an additional story in there about Kanji beating people up.]

It all turned out okay.

[The biker's stopped making so much noise and Kanji got rescued after he was inevitably kidnapped and shoved through a TV screen because he'd been on TV. NBD. He doesn't bring that up, though, because he's not sure how much Kanji has told Maya. It's really not his job to tell her Kanji's story, unless he's asked to.]

Violence isn't usually the answer, but it helps sometimes.

[Souji nods.] Then you don't know until the end if it's good or bad. [But he didn't plan for it to be bad by any means.]

Kanji is probably less stunned than anyone else might be, but his jaw still hangs open as he watches Josuke right himself, his sundae intact like nothing out of the ordinary had happened at all.]

Dude, was that your Stand?

I mean-- yeah, that's me! Shit, can it fix anything that comes apart?

[All of a sudden, Stone Free moves forward and...look at that, she's put a bowl of ice cream together, and Jolyne takes it. See, there's the advantage of having a Stand, being able to skip lines. The disadvantage? Probably having to explain a floating bowl of ice cream to someone who might've seen that.]

I was just waiting for you to decide if you were gonna mix them all together or not.

Yeah. You don't know what's the event and what they're really feeling. Sometimes event takes stuff from our own heads, which makes it even harder to figure out if it's real or if it's just part of the event.

[The line between the two can be really hard to tell sometimes. It's her least favorite part of events, not the danger, but the way it can twist people's heads up, their emotions up, make them believe things that aren't true.]

I don't think it'd hurt to ask... if they're okay now but I get that's hard.

[Wirt is, surprisingly, a bit less awkward than he'd normally be. Thanks to Maya, he has the tiniest buzz going, and he likes the way it sits in his ears and warms his face. It puts him more at ease. Inebriate of air is he, and so on.

(Not quite inebriate enough to stop himself from nitpicking his thoughts - "air" in that poem is literal air, not the impression someone gives.)

Either way, he's out from under the table and a little more inclined to look for company he recognizes. Naturally, he gravitates towards someone else who seems too old to be here, and he leans against the wall nearby.]

[That didn't come up too often; his mother was incredibly dedicated to her work.]

She's been buggin' me to start puttin' some of my own stuff up for sale in the shop, so I've been, uh-- makin' some things to sell, lately. Or I was before I got here.

We both learned that, right? Even if there's something important coming up in the future, you have to go day by day.

Maybe whenever people tell me to drink milk I can just eat ice cream instead. Since it's effectively the same.

[Minato hadn't expected that from the Stand, but that was pretty cool. It'd be interesting if his Personas could do that.

Hm, mixing them all together? He could put them all in a bowl if they would fit.]

I'll do a couple of flavors, then come back.

[Multiple trips back here is something he could do. Now toppings, those could be mixed up all over the place, and thus he added those to his bowl.]

How did you normally spend New Year's at home?

[Arya glances around, wondering what everyone found so interesting about small talk.]

I bet it would be easy to start a brawl.

I'm not sure it works like that. You can't very well go around putting ice cream in your tea.

[Kanji made things? At a textile shop? Minato had to ask.]

[Minato wanted to know, his curiosity getting the better of him again.]

[That was a lot to ask for, but everyone had to. Minato nodded a little, again not to dislodge his head from Souji's shoulder or head either.]

[Her social circle doesn't really exist anymore. Or it did, then she quit being in a biker gang so it didn't...and now she's got friends, but they're too busy with shonen hero stuff to think about New Year's.]

I mean if we'd lasted longer and I wasn't in Wonderland, I might've gone out with my ex-boyfriend this year, but he was an ass, so I'm not missing out on much by being here.

[But that still sounded nice, spending the time with one's parents or just one parent. He smiled again though at her follow up. Don't mind him as he's eating his ice cream too.]

Damn those ex-boyfriends. You deserve way better than that, I would think.

[It did make him think about some of his friends and their parents and how those parents stayed together, even if it wasn't all that great. Maybe sometimes that kind of thing couldn't be helped.]
