[Punctuality in planning is important: the ballroom itself will only be ready for guests at exactly 8 o'clock, bedecked in glittering golds and the red-green of Christmas' vestiges, still clinging to the old year. Dining tables surround a central dance floor, bars and buffets dot the edges of the room and both holly and mistletoe are expressed liberally through the interior.

Mingle, dance, eat and be merry! The New Year will come in at midnight - the band will play and the drinks will flow for long after.]

Jane's so happy, and Sarah is happy for her, for Kurt. "You're gonna make me an aunt, finally. I'm ecstatic," she says with a grin. "But hey, for now we've got Wonderland to deal with and my brother in an actual, honest to God tux. He didn't even wear a tux to my wedding. Not like that."

"Wow, really?" Jane grins a little. "This is the second time I've seen him in a tux. We were undercover the first time, though, Maybe it doesn't count."

"Undercover? Tell me more, because Kurt never tells me anything about work," Sarah says, taking Jane's arm and casually walking with her to get more food and drinks before they plant themselves at a table.

"Well, we were married," Jane says with a little grin. "And...we danced. A lot. It was..." She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "It was fun. It was something I liked. For the first time I was living a life I could see myself in. Minus shooting people in the end, I mean."

"Oh, wow. That's...relationship foreshadowing? I mean...wow. How long before you kissed for the first time after you played husband and wife?" Sarah asks eagerly, wanting more details as they get food and then sit.

"It was...I don't know. Maybe the next night?" Jane smiles but it's a little bittersweet as she looks down a little. "That part of the night was good. I should have..." She takes a deep breath and lets it out. "I wish I'd come inside. Had dinner with you guys."

Sarah frowns a little, shifting in her chair to look at Jane. "What happened? Why do you say that?" Reaching out, she squeezes Jane's arm gently.

"It's..." She clears her throat. She's never gone into detail about this with Kurt before, he just knows that it happened. "I was...tortured. Waterboarded that same night."

She'd gone from feeling like anything was possible, to thinking she was going to die in the span of an hour.

Sarah definitely feels all the air leave her lungs at that, and she doesn't even know what to say for a solid minute or two.

"Jane. Oh, my God. Jane." She almost asks if she's okay but that'd be a stupid question so she reaches out to hold onto her hand tightly. "I wish you'd come up, too," Sarah says sadly, unable to keep from feeling extremely emotional about this, about her friend being tortured in that way.

"That's when everything just...went wrong," Jane admits. "You pretty much know the rest. Oscar and...everything." Taking a deep breath, she lets it out slowly. "But this is supposed to be a happy night. Nothing sad and we're all okay now. That's all that matters. Even at home, Kurt and I know now that we'll get there. The sonogram picture proves it. Maybe it takes time, but we get there and that...makes the idea of going home less hard. Knowing what we have to look forward to," Jane smiles.
