Summary: Richie tries to figure out how to go on a real date. He goes overboard. No one is shocked.
The Story:
[After a lot of planning and a bunch of research, Richie thinks he might have figured out what to do about this whole ‘date’ situation.
This is a big deal considering he’s never really been on anything anyone could consider a typical date. In this particular area, he has less experience than your usual high school student, not to mention they’re trapped in Wonderland, which doesn’t make going on a stereotypical date any easier.
She wants it to be special, which means he has to start from scratch. They’ve been all over this mansion repeatedly since they got here, and special isn’t going to be going to the diner or visiting the local bar.
So he reads books, watches movies, takes mental notes, and then finds an empty room and gets to work rearranging it into what he thinks she might like. It takes him a few days of careful planning and decorating before he thinks it’s adequate, and another couple of days to figure out if he should give her the plan ahead of time or just surprise her.
He eventually goes with the latter. While she’s out one early afternoon, he gets up early, takes a long shower, and puts some extra effort into getting ready. While one might expect him to put on a suit, that’s not going to cut it this time, and instead he puts together his own outfit based on the things that he’s seen her pick out for him in the past. His hair is smoothed back but not quite slick, dancing somewhere between casual and neat.
When she comes in, he’s sitting on the couch, leaning forward with his elbows on his legs, and he’s got a fucking bouquet of flowers, specifically daisies, resting in-between his hands.
